Legacies: 10 Main Characters, Ranked By Likability | ScreenRant

Like The Vampire Diaries and The Originals before it, Legacies continues the trend of supernatural drama with a loyal fanbase. While that audience certainly appreciates the storylines surrounding vampires, werewolves, witches, and even a tribrid (vamp, wolf, and witch in one), it's the characters themselves that stand out.

Regardless of how powerful they might be, the audience has grown to care about the show's core characters. Some are the likable heroes the series needs, others come across as irritating teenagers but all are pretty complex and totally engage the viewer whenever they're on screen. With this list only focusing on likability, no villains will be included.

10 Ethan

On his own, Ethan seems to be a relatively likable guy. The son of Sheriff Mac, Ethan hasn't been around for much of the show, only really joining the fray during season 3. He accidentally discovered the truth about vampires when MG saved him from getting hit by a car.

As a human teenager, he could've freaked out and done something irrational. Instead, he took it surprisingly well and has actually become friends with MG. He even encouraged MG to use his abilities for good. Ethan would rank higher if he had more screen time.

9 Lizzie Saltzman

Named after Elizabeth Forbes from The Vampire Diaries, Lizzie Saltzman should be more likable. As the daughter of Alaric and Caroline, two beloved characters, she has good genes. The issue is that Lizzie has mostly just been kind of mean and arrogant towards everyone.

She spent most of the first two seasons putting herself before her twin sister Josie, being cold to Hope, and using MG's crush on her to get him to do her bidding. Thankfully, Lizzie seems to have noticed the error of her ways and has been trying to be better in the most recent string of episodes.

8 Jed

In a lot of surprising ways, Jed is similar to Lizzie. Both aren't very fun to watch in the first two seasons because of their attitudes. Jed had a temper, was prone to be overly violent, and had too big of an ego to properly accept Rafael into the werewolf pack.

It made him more of a stereotypical jock villain than anything else. However, also like Lizzie, he has been working on himself recently. Jed became part of the Super Squad, which has made him more of a team player and the bigger role has also allowed for more character development.

7 Landon Kirby

The shows in this universe are known to put their characters through the wringer and it could be argued that Landon Kirby has been through the most on Legacies. Landon was relatable to the audience when he first joined the Salvatore School because he didn't know where he fit in.

It wasn't until he found out that he was a phoenix that he hit his stride. Landon is overall a good guy who cares about his friends, specifically Rafael and Hope. It can be kind of grating to see him constantly as the victim and his romance with Hope hasn't been the best written in the series, though.

6 Rafael

Rafael has basically been synonymous with Landon since they were kids. The foster brothers had one of the strongest bonds on the show. Their supernatural statuses and even their shared romantic interest in Hope couldn't get between their friendship.

That level of loyalty is part of what made Rafael such a likable character. He was also sympathetic due to his tough childhood and proved to be a solid leader when he became the werewolf alpha. Rafael was sent to live out his days in a prison world in early season 4 and has already been missed.

5 Alaric Saltzman

Alaric Saltzman had something that a lot of the characters on this show didn't have when it started. He had a built-in fanbase who adored him from his time on The Vampire Diaries. The former history teacher/vampire hunter/Original vampire and more entered this show in a pivotal role.

As both a father to twin witches and the headmaster of the school, Alaric is the show's most important adult. The combination of his intelligence, history with the supernatural, and his willingness to save those he cares about makes him someone to root for. Alas, he's not perfect and has been shown to do some shady things in the past.

4 Hope Mikaelson

In a lot of cases, the main character of a series would be the most likable. However, Hope Mikaelson isn't your traditional protagonist. Much like her impulsive father Klaus, Hope has often blurred the lines of what is right and what would best serve her.

Hope has risked the lives of her friends more than once just to save Landon and showed little care about it. Her status as a tribrid and the daughter of the most powerful being in history means she might not grasp how vulnerable others are. Still, she is a good person at heart, has sacrificed herself in the past, and is always willing to play the hero.

3 MG

On paper, MG is basically the nicest member of the Salvatore School. In many ways, he's this show's equivalent to Stefan Salvatore. MG cares deeply for everyone around him, yet still has a dark side as evidenced by his Ripper status when he's around human blood.

Still, like Stefan, he does his best to control it so that he can be a better person. Even though he understood that Lizzie used him, he would still always be at her side. MG recently began some slight vigilante work alongside Ethan, adding to more of his good deeds, and finally began standing up for himself.

2 Kaleb

When the series began, Kaleb felt like he might end up being something of a villain. There's a reason he played Damon Salvatore in the school play. Like Damon, Kaleb managed to turn things around and ultimately develop into a better person over time.

It's that desire and willingness to be better that makes him so likable. Audiences can appreciate that and Kaleb has stepped up as a hero on several occasions. Recently, he also showed that he could let his best friend MG go off to do something that made him happy even if Kaleb disagreed with it.

1 Josie Saltzman

Where Lizzie struggles due to being selfish more often than not, her sister Josie is actually selfless. Part of why Lizzie acted the way she did is because Josie would often sacrifice her own happiness to ensure that her sister got what she wanted. That's Josie at her core.

She will always put others before herself. Josie also is a hopeless romantic at heart as her crushes on the likes of Landon, Hope, and Finch prove, and fans love that side of her. Even when Dark Josie shows up, she can be evil but is still an entertaining aspect of the show.
