Even though Dorinda Medley is no longer on The Real Housewives of New York City, she believes it would be a shame for the show to be put on a hiatus. Dorinda was fired from the long-running Bravo series last year after a terrible season with her castmates. From the start of season 11, Dorinda had it out for her fellow castmate Tinsely Mortimer. The reality star believed Tinsley was hiding her relationship with Scott Kluth, who broke off their engagement, from the group and wasn't being honest.
The feud resulted in Dorinda calling Tinsley a number of inappropriate names, including how she needed a turkey baster to have children with her then-boyfriend. Besides the hurtful comments, she continued throughout the season to maliciously pick on her with no proper reasoning behind her behavior. Tinsely was able to speak her mind at the reunion and left RHONY with a clear conscience. However, Dorinda's behavior resulted in her firing, leading her to take this time to write her memoir, Make It Nice.
During an interview with Us Weekly, the 56-year-old shared her thoughts on the rumored hiatus on RHONY, amid a decline in ratings. "Someone told me the other day they’re thinking about not even starting in the fall this year...That would be a shame because New York in the fall, it’s our first fall [post-pandemic]," Dorinda said. She went on to explain that it would be a loss for the viewers, as this is the first fall since last year's New York City restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "I mean, how can you have a fall in New York without that?" Dorinda added. "To me, I will hold the New York housewife girls close to my heart forever...The New York housewives, we know how to play." As for whether or not she would return to the series for season 13, as fans do miss Dorinda, the door isn't completely closed on that possibility.
Nonetheless, Dorinda has no say over whether she gets asked back and has to wait for the higher-ups to give her an offer. "Someone’s got to ask. I’m not a producer. That’s in the hands of the big people," the reality star teased. Even if Dorinda doesn't return next season, her former friendship with Ramona Singer has been on her mind. The two have known each other for 20 years, and Dorinda is sad to see that they "kind of parted ways for now but...let’s see what happens over time." Dorinda may not know if she's returning to RHONY, but she will be appearing in season 2 of the Housewives mash-up series on Peacock. Joining her for the series will be other former housewives such as Jill Zarin, Vicki Gunvalson, Taylor Armstrong, Phaedra Parks and more.
Similar to fans, Dorinda believes RHONY should be given another chance despite the low ratings for this season. The series is a staple in the Housewives franchise and shouldn't be given the boot based on one season. Maybe Dorinda will return to get RHONY back to where it used to be.
The Real Housewives of New York City airs Tuesdays at 9pm on Bravo.
