Operating a drug cartel is no easy task and neither is working for a boss that must make quick and sometimes deadly decisions. For some of the characters on USA's Queen of the South, the pain has been felt way more than others. While the game is often high stakes, it's not always the killing and dealing that can make actions wrong.
Walking away from a situation can have grave repercussions and the same goes for a thing macho. What these main characters have gone through is enough for even viewers to question their morals. Here are the worst things the main characters from Queen of the South has done.
10 Javier (Killing Rene)
As an enforcer, it's plenty of bad deeds we can pin on Javier. But there's one that sticks out to me above anything else. Javier is good at what he does. His job is to protect Teresa and the organization. For the most part, Javier was on top of his game. However, he has those moments where he reacts off impulse and feelings instead of using his head. While his death was tragic, it was his fault.
The worst thing Javier has done was killing Rene. While Rene deserved a good butt-kicking, Javier went too far. By killing him, it caused a war in which Tony was murdered and eventually caused Javier and his fiance their lives.
9 Teresa (Giving Javier Up)
There had to be another way. Was it that bad that Teresa was forced to give up Javier to the Judge? Although he wanted revenge, the Judge was still money-hungry and maybe a deal could have been worked out. With the walls closing in and Teresa wanting it all to end, she did what she thought was best for everyone.
Once the truth was about what happened to Rene, Theresa figured she had no other way out. Since getting into this business, this had to be one of the toughest decisions she's had to make. It's one that could hurt her in the long run.
8 Camilla (Underestimating Teresa)
Camila wanted to be ruthless but she had more heart than she gave herself credit for. Over the years, she's had to make important decisions regarding her business and personal life. But the one that she has to regret was taking Teresa for granted. It doesn't seem big in the grand scheme of things but not seeing Teresa as an equal is the worst thing she's ever done.
Camila wanted to use Teresa as a sex slave. She decided against it and forced her to become a drug mule. Promoted her to a small partnership but still keep Teresa at arm's length while using her as a pawn in her fight with Epifanio. Camila knew Teresa was smart, she just didn't know how smart until it was too late.
7 Cortez (Playing Both Sides)
In this game, it's do or die. For Cortez, it was about survival and power. Under the watchful eye of Epifanio, Cortez played a huge role in the Mexican Cartel. But he wanted more. He was tired of being the hired gun and the man who did the dirty work, he wanted the top spot. The worst thing he's ever done was play both sides.
While with Epifanio, he wanted him to kill Camila. While having a slight relationship with Camila, he wanted her to take down Epifanio. If either of his plans were to happen, he would have stepped right into that person's position. There was no loyalty where Cortez was concerned. He cared only about himself.
6 King George (Leaving Birdie)
Hindsight is 20/20. There was no way King George could have known that Birdie was about to meet her demise. However, it's still a mistake that he will have to live with. There was chemistry between the two. That was evident enough. George was leaving New Orleans and before he went, he asked Birdie to join him.
While they didn't know each other long, it was a long shot but one worth thinking about I still believe. If Birdie had gone, then she would still be alive and George, much like Pote could have the great woman by his side. He should have pushed harder.
5 Pote (Killing Chino)
Pote has done plenty of bad in Queen of the South. Being a Scario is not an easy job and one that most will run from. You take orders, put your head down and do what has to be done in the name of enforcing rules and protection. While Pote carries a scowl on his face 99% of the time, it wasn't until last season we had a chance to see a small crack in his armor.
Pote lives with regrets but it wasn't until he grew really close with Tony that he realized one of the worst things he's ever done was kill his dad. Rules are rules and stealing from the boss results in death. Pote knew this and had a job to do but the pain in Tony's eyes let him know, that action was worth regret.
4 Guero (Stealing From His Boss)
None of this is possible without Guero stealing from Epifanio. If he and his partner never crossed their boss, Teresa would never have been on the run, Brenda would be alive and ultimately, Tony would still be breathing as well. While his decision did force Teresa to grow up and a become a boss, it was done under dire circumstances.
With his return, he put his life back in danger as well as Teresa's and Camila's business. While he did it out of love for Teresa, Guero often acted off of impulse and didn't use enough free time to sit and think.
3 Kelly Anne (Betraying Teresa)
Kelly Anne was never built for this life but she adapted. Teresa helped her out of a bind and Kelly Anne felt she was obligated to repay the gesture. But in doing so, she had to invest what was a good heart into a business where that will get you killed. When the walls were closing in, she betrayed her boss and friend. In doing so, Teresa had no choice but to order her death.
This was the first real betrayal that Teresa had to deal with and with the orders not being honored, Kelly Anne was able to redeem herself but it never should have come to that in the first place.
2 Epifanio (Best of Both Worlds)
Epifanio wanted too much and he was willing to do anything to get it. Did he make mistakes along the way? Yes. The worst thing that he's ever done was try to live in both worlds. Epifanio wanted to be a kingpin and still be in the public eye. It's hard trying to.run a cartel.in Mexico and be a clean-cut Governor.
His worst mistake was not taking the advice of Cortez and getting rid if Camila. No matter how he tried to deny it, he still loved her and that blinded him in certain situations. Killing Camila could have given him everything he's ever wanted. By not doing so, it eventually costs him his life.
1 James (Following Orders)
Throughout his time on Queen of the South, James has offered his services to some of the worst. Was James ever a threat to run an operation? No. He's the guy who gets his hands dirty when the boss needs something done.
James was tasked with an assignment he knew was wrong from the beginning. He befriended a guy, was invited into his home and told to kill him. But James fell for the family (sort of) and when he had the chance, he made his move. While in the act, the mans' daughter walked in and James froze. Betraying someone he knew didn't deserve death was his worst feat.
