The Witcher 3 by CD Projekt Red has its fair share of epic monster fights and hidden among them is a secret creature that can only be accessed through some interesting steps. Born from an exploit that players found early on in the game, this secret boss will only reveal itself if players get a little too greedy. As a warning, players should definitely make sure they are leveled up before attempting this boss battle
When The Witcher 3 first came out, players were quick to find a simple money making exploit inside the early level of White Orchard. Once CD Projekt Red found out about this exploit they had a creative way of patching it. If the player attempts this exploit, they will summon a massive Chort creature that can easily take down a lower leveled player. This guide will help the player manage this massive beast.
To access the secret Chort battle, players need to attempt the original money-making exploit to summon him. Simply head down to White Orchard and find the farm that's loaded with cows. Originally, players could kill the cows to collect cowhide and sell them at any local merchant for a decent amount of money. Meditating would respawn the cows an infinite amount of time, making this a quality money maker in the early part of the game.
To trigger the Chort players will have to replicate the money-making exploit. Only now, instead of reaping the rewards of cowhide, the player will summon a mighty Chort creature after they kill about 10-15 cows. The Chort will appear and begin wreaking havoc over the cow pastures, stopping the player's access to easy cash.
Fighting the Chort at a low level will almost immediately end a player's life. The creature will spawn at level 20+ and roam the town in White Orchard protecting his bovine brethren. To fight him, make sure Geralt is at least level 20 and well equipped. Keep a distance from his claw swipes and rush in to strike when the time is right. Players can also try to lure the Chort over to the brigade of soldiers who will shoot arrows and attempt to help take the beast down.
Once defeated, the Chort will drop monster parts, green mutagens, and a Chort mutagen. There is also a possibility of another Chrot respawning after the first one dies. This could be a good way to load up on mutagens if needed.
The fact that this secret boss was born out of a player-discovered exploit makes it all the better. CD Projekt Red could have easily just nerfed the price of cowhide, or simply did away with the respawn. Instead, they decided to patch this exploit in the most fun way.
The Witcher 3 is available on PC, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
