Kandi Burruss' daughter, Riley, is required to self-quarantine before she starts her freshman year at NYU, and she has no idea what to do. The Real Housewives of Atlanta college bound teen is following university rules to ensure the safety of herself and other students, a far cry from the fun filled experience of moving in at college.
The university has required that students coming in from different states take precautions and isolate themselves for 14 days before traipsing around campus. The university website has detailed their protocol for the upcoming Fall 2020 semester, asking students to arrive early in order to self isolate and get tested. Riley is following these conditions to the letter, excited to simply be going to the only college she wanted attend.
As is the trend, Riley posted about her quarantine-related boredom on her Instagram story on August 19, according to the Daily Dish. With fun, bright green letters saying, "Bored-19", she asked, "What to do in quarantine?" What to do indeed... As if being quarantined alone in her dorm room isn't enough, Riley's 18th birthday on August 22nd is just around the corner. We may hear something else from her soon as she decides what to do for her big day while still self isolating. However, someone is obviously already thinking of that situation and is on the case to send her daughter some much needed love.
RHOA's Kandi Burruss shared a loving photo hashtagged "Flashback Friday", showing a mother-daughter pose with a young Riley. "I can't believe Riley will be 18 tomorrow????!!!!" She captioned, "She's quarantined in her dorm alone for the next 2 weeks. That sucks to be alone on your 18th bday. So everyone send her love & keep her lifted up! I miss my baby already.." Perhaps she can give Riley some pointers since some of her own show related events have had to take place in a quarantine style. But Riley's mom isn't the only one missing the new NYU Bobcat.
Riley's lovable little brother, Ace Wells Tucker, made a post on his own Instagram account, sharing love for his older sister. One was posted at her send off party, saying how much he would miss her, and another just a day after saying, "Missing my @rileyburruss." However, the little tike may not have much time to post more as he starts his own home schooling regime in light of new restrictions for schools all over due to COVID-19. Kandi has reported that Ace has quite a schedule of online school that he has to adhere to.
As everyone seems to be jumping back into school, Riley's first semester will begin soon in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, and although she hasn't exactly declared a major, she has expressed plans to attend law school after graduation. As COVID-19 updates continue to flood in, the protocols for schools of all levels will no doubt be changing to best protect the students and faculty. Hopefully, Riley can find a way to make the best of an unusual first year of college.
