Ahsoka's Disney+ Show Can Solve Star Wars Rebels' Biggest Mystery

The upcoming Ahsoka show can resolve the biggest mystery left by Star Wars Rebels. During the recently-held Disney Investor Day presentation, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that Rosario Dawson is indeed coming back to reprise her role as the fan-favorite Togruta. The interest in Ahsoka Tano skyrocketed following her live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2, expanding her fan-base after primarily existing in the franchise's animated pocket.

Introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie, Ahsoka was the Padawan of Luke Skywalker during that point in time. Together with Obi-Wan Kenobi, they went on various missions not knowing that Emperor Palpatine was secretly planning Order 66. After it was executed, Ahsoka mainly operated underground. After Star Wars: The Clone Wars series tackled much of her story including her decision to leave the Jedi Order, she re-emerged as code-name Fulcrum in Star Wars Rebels, feeding information to the Rebellion to help them with their operations. The last time she was spotted before making the live-action jump was also on the Disney XD series, where she joined Sabine Wren to locate the missing Ezra Bridger.

By the time Ahsoka appeared in The Mandalorian, she was alone in Corvus, fighting the Magistrate and her people. Aside from helping Din Djarin figure out what the next step will be with regard to handling Baby Yoda, the episode titled "The Jedi" also revealed that she's in the process of hunting down Grand Admiral Thrawn. Since Ezra was last seen with the Chiss tactician as the young Jedi opted to stay behind in his ship as it jumped to hyperspace, Ahsoka's pursuit of Grand Admiral Thrawn can ultimately lead her to Kanan Jarrus' padawan. While Star Wars Rebels purposefully left this big mystery unanswered when it wrapped up its four-season-run in 2018, creator Dave Filoni confirmed that both Ezra and Grand Admiral Thrawn survived their journey, the only problem is, it's unknown where the purrgil brought them to.

It's worth noting that before Ahsoka even made her debut in The Mandalorian, there were already rumors that Lucasfilm and Disney are casting for a live-action version of Ezra. iZombie and The Haunting of Bly Manor star Rahul Kohli continues to spark rumors that he might be the actor for the job through consistent posting on social media, albeit he previously denied that there's anything more to it than fun teasing. In conjunction with that, there were also previous reports claiming that the now-confirmed Ahsoka spin-off will feature other Star Wars Rebels characters from the Ghost Crew like Hera Syndulla and Zeb Orrelios, alongside Sabine as the show supposedly tackles their mission to bring Ezra home. Granted that Lucasfilm is mum about the matter, it still tracks with the anything but confirmed detail that Ahsoka will see the titular character track down Grand Admiral Thrawn.

With Filoni involved in developing Ahsoka with The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, it's more than likely that he'll use the show as a storytelling venue to resolve arguably the biggest question left by Star Wars Rebels. Time and again, Filoni confirmed that they've told the narrative they want on the DisneyXD series, but that doesn't mean that they can find other ways to move its characters forward especially since there's interest in them.
