Fall Guys Season 3 is going to include a cool new bonus for players who rack up the crowns: a new ranking system and exclusive golden costumes for those able to climb the ranks. The new season launches today and adopts a festive winter theme, aptly named “Fall Guys goes brrr” by the game’s official Twitter account.
Revealed at The Game Awards 2020, Fall Guys Season 3 will be the most action-packed season yet. Aside from the change into a winter theme, the update is bringing a ton of new content to match it. There are a total of seven new levels, over 30 new character costumes, and several other gameplay features. The community-named “Ringus Dingus” obstacle is also making an appearance, taking on the form of a giant swinging bell on a rope. Additionally, the update will bring with it the usual bug fixes and other small adjustments to improve the playing experience.
The official PlayStation Blog details one of the more interesting additions this season: the ranking system. Basically, the more crowns a player gets (the more they win), the higher their rank will be. Aside from having a means to track wins now, players that are able to consistently climb these ranks will be rewarded with a bunch of cool goodies. These include exclusive colors, patterns, and - most notably - golden versions of classic Fall Guys costumes.
The four golden costumes shown so far include a golden hotdog, golden knight, golden wolf, and golden chicken - all nice additions alongside the new holiday-themed costumes. It remains to be seen if these are the only golden costumes, but given the large amount of new costumes included in the new season, there are likely more to come. If anything, the ability to actually track wins is likely to excite seasoned Fall Guys players.
The addition of a ranking system is a much-requested feature amongst fans and that alone is likely to get players that had left the game back on the grind. Fall Guys had recently fallen into a bit of a slump, so it will be interesting to see the long-term effects of the new ranking system and what kinds of rewards will be added to further incentivize players in the future. Whatever the case, the Fall Guys team has really been picking up the pace lately with all the new content and the future of the game is looking good.
