Grey's Anatomy: 10 Best Scenes in Season 17 So Far | ScreenRant

Season 17 of Grey's Anatomy is on a midseason hiatus right now. Within the six episodes that have aired so far, this season of Grey's opened right in the middle of the pandemic, with occasional flashbacks to things from season 16. Winston Ngudu and Cormac Hayes seem to have joined the season as regular cast members, and most of the rest of the cast have returned to their respective roles.

Even in the short span of the six episodes that have aired so far, Grey's has managed to give viewers some outstanding, as well as heartbreaking moments. But which ones would fans say have been the most mem0rable?

10 The Hospital During A Pandemic

From the very first episode of the season, viewers get a glimpse into the hospital that is well into the pandemic. The empty OR board, the specific gear the doctors wear, the talk about N95s and PPE kits, the cafeteria converted into a Covid ward; all these are accurate and terrifying representations in the manner of fiction that is quite close to reality.

9 Human Trafficking Storyline

Season 16 had presented an incredibly difficult storyline with DeLuca identifying a potential human trafficking victim. But because of his deteriorating mental health, no one took him seriously. They later found that he was indeed right about what had happened.

Viewers get a flashback to this in season 16 and also get a glimpse of the lady who had been instrumental to the same. The midseason finale closes with DeLuca and Carina trying to keep an eye on her till the police arrive.

8 The Small Daily Tradition Between Bailey And Warren

The very first episode of season 17 featured an incredibly sweet and warm moment between the loving husband and wife, wherein both of them expressed their fear and also their affection through a small daily ritual before getting into their incredibly dangerous work situations.

It is a very heartwarming moment and Grey's tried to show how these small daily rituals are so important to show our love.

7 Maggie And Winston's Virtual Dates

Many around the world are learning to cope with the restrictions that come with the pandemic. Grey's gives a wonderful example of Maggie and Winston who are in a relationship, albeit a virtual one.

Their dates over video-calls give them the respite and comfort that is much needed, especially in their line of work. They do dinner dates and movie dates virtually, and try to make the best of their situation.

6 Link And Amelia's Domestic Household

Link and Amelia are in a house with all of the kids. With Meredith in the hospital, they have to look after not just their own newborn baby, but also all of Meredith's kids. It's a full house and it is quite fun to watch them both deal with a houseful of kids and live an incredibly domestic existence that is mostly outside the hospital.

5 Maggie's Passionate Monologue

Maggie progressively loses her patience when she sees how disproportionately the pandemic has been affecting Black communities. Catherine tells her to yell to vent out her frustrations and it works for a while.

But Maggie says many important things about the effects of not just the pandemic, but its implications on the poor and the minority communities as well.

4 Seeing Bailey and O'Malley Together Again

Bailey made it very clear that of the first set of interns, O'Malley was her favorite. From the very first episode of Grey's Anatomy, it is made very clear that Bailey nurses a soft spot for George. He was kind, and caring, and not cut-throat or over-achieving like the rest.

She even named her son after O'Malley. So seeing them on the beach together again in season 17 was a special moment, especially for fans who have been with the show from the very first season.

3 DeLuca Telling Bailey Even Superhumans Need A Break

Bailey lost her mother to Covid-19 and it was a very heartbreaking moment. Despite her mother's passing away, Bailey tries to power through and continues to work even the very next day. It is only when she needs to take a patient into the room where her mother had died the previous night, that she asks for a minute's time to collect herself.

DeLuca steps in here and tells her to respectfully, "go away." He says that he knows that Bailey is a superhuman, but even superhumans need to breathe and take a break in situations like this. It's a beautiful moment that the two share.

2 Derek On The Beach

There was nothing more exciting for fans of the show than to see their favorite couple reunited once again. Meredith and Derek were the heart of Grey's Anatomy, especially in the earlier seasons. After his sudden death, fans were heartbroken.

But in Meredith's Covid dream, fans got the opportunity to witness this dream couple reunite again. And even if it was for just a moment, Patrick Dempsey's return to the show was one of the highlights of season 17 so far.

1 Dedication To Those Who Were Victims Of The Pandemic

There are some moments that are heartwarming, and some that are just heartbreaking. Grey's tackles the extremely difficult situation of Bailey losing her mother to Covid-19. The episode closes with the names of those who had lost their lives to the pandemic. It was a beautiful, yet heartbreaking tribute by the cast and crew of Grey's, reminding people that the lives that are lost are not merely statistics, but lives that were lived and lost.
