RHOA: Drew Sidora Says Nicki Minaj Commented On Her Post-Baby Body

The newest addition to The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast recently appeared in a video on Kandi Burruss’ YouTube channel. Drew Sidora revealed Nicki Minaj commented on her post-baby body during an audition, but she saw the comment as “constructive criticism."

Earlier this year, NeNe Leakes announced she would be leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast. Fans were appalled and disappointed by the news, given NeNe has been a prominent star on the show since day one. This season, NeNe was replaced by Drew Sidora, an actress and singer. In a recent video, Drew revealed a shocking experience she had with rap artist, Nicki Minaj.

Earlier this week, Drew appeared on Kandi’s YouTube series, Speak on It, as reported by Daily Mail. She opened up about a moment when Nicki Minaj made an unfiltered comment about her post-baby body. Drew said she ran into Nicki during an audition for an ABC Family show based on the rap star’s life. The reality star said she was shocked Nicki’s comment because she compared her figure to how she looked during her 2013 role in the movie, CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story. “So, I was up for an ABC family series, a Nicki Minaj pilot. And Nicki herself said that. She said I don’t look how I looked when I played T-Boz,” Drew said.

When Drew revealed the news, Kandi looked absolutely shocked. “I was like, ‘Nicki!’ it was like, all these ABC execs around but I had gone through about five rounds. And she really, really liked me,” Drew continued. The newcomer to RHOA is best known for her roles on That’s So Raven, Hindsight, and The Game. “And then she said that in front of all these [executives]. It is what it is. I was like, ‘Look, I just had a baby.’” At the time, Drew said her newborn was three months old, “I was literally still breastfeeding.” Drew said she took Nicki’s comment as “constructive criticism” and “advice,” rather than interpreting it as offensive. She began making changes to her lifestyle to place more emphasis on her health. “What I took away was, ‘Girl, get your life together. Get back in the gym. You can’t keep blaming it on the baby and get to work,’” Drew said to Kandi. “Like, yes, I had a baby, let’s not body shame, but it did give me that motivation… So I’ve been on a journey of weight loss and just getting back to good health.

Let’s face it: the truth hurts. Even though Nicki’s comment towards Drew was shocking and perhaps harsh, the rap artist was only trying to help. Clearly what Nicki said was helpful in the end because Drew placed more emphasis on her health, which many people wrongfully neglect. Honestly, good for The Real Housewives of Atlanta star for taking the criticism like a pro!
