The Bachelorette star Becca Kufrin reflected on a "heartbreaking" 2020 that caused her two-year engagement with Garrett Yrigoyen to end. Bachelor Nation first got to know Becca on Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s season of The Bachelor, which she technically won. However, most fans will remember that season for having one of the craziest endings of all time. Arie first set everything up to propose to Lauren Burnham, but then changed his mind last-minute and got engaged to Becca instead. Nonetheless, a few weeks later, Arie told Becca in private that he had stronger feelings for Lauren and wished to be with her instead.
Needless to say, the Bachelorette fans did not appreciate at all how Arie treated those women during their final moments on the show, and it was particularly hurtful for Becca to go through that roller-coaster of emotions. Thankfully, ABC chose Becca to lead the subsequent season of The Bachelorette, which aired just a few months after her original stint on The Bachelor. This time around, Becca met a bunch of great guys and ended up getting engaged to 29-year-old Garrett Yrigoyen from Manteca, California. In 2020, after two years of being engaged, Becca and Garrett announced that they were breaking up.
Now, The Bachelorette fan-favorite Becca Kufrin opened up about how particularly hard 2020 was for her. In a video shared on Instagram (seen below), Becca included a few sweet pictures highlighting her good moments from last year. In the caption, however, Becca wrote about the difficulties that she had to face in 2020. "You took several people I loved away, & you pushed me to the point where I almost broke. But I didn't. And after all the hell that's taken place within 365 days, all I have to say is thank you," she wrote. Becca then went on to thank 2020 for all of the obstacles that were placed in her way, ultimately making her a stronger person: "Thank you for breaking my heart & allowing me to put the pieces back together in the most weird, but customized way."
It's fair to say that 2020 was a weird year for most people, so it's great that Becca Kufrin is taking the time to open up, practice forgiveness, and attempt to move on from her breakup with Garrett Yrigoyen. Bachelor Nation ultimately wants nothing but the best for these two, even if it means that they shouldn't be together anymore.
The latest season of The Bachelorette just ended, but Matt James' season of The Bachelor is already here to get the fans back on track.
