A Fallout 76 player managed to design an impressive recreation of BioShock's Rapture setting in a Fallout 76 C.A.M.P. Shelter build. Developer Bethesda Game Studios added C.A.M.P. Shelters to the experience in the Steel Dawn update. As an instanced location, these shelters allow players to build and decorate their own underground vaults. The baked-in mechanics and options are quite robust, too. If players are so inclined, they can even design spaceships, pirate ships, and myriad other locales.
Since its disappointing launch in the fall of 2018, Bethesda has regularly updated Fallout 76 with patches both big and small in an effort to improve the overall experience. And it doesn't seem as though such support is waning anytime soon. How else Bethesda aims to further iterate on the game remains to be seen, especially when considering that the most major Fallout 76 updates have added in much-coveted features such as NPCs, PvP, and a survival mode.
Fallout 76 players are known for making their own fun, as well. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that one player managed to bring a little bit of BioShock to the wasteland. Fallout-centric YouTube channel CHAD A Fallout 76 Podcast (via PC Gamer) recreated BioShock's Rapture using the tools available in Fallout 76's C.A.M.P. Shelter. And it's nothing short of impressive. The tight corridors and claustrophobic spaces are decked out in a 1950s aesthetic that boasts festive décor. It perfectly reflects Rapture's design of a city frozen in time due to its fall during an otherwise celebratory period. Of course, it wouldn't quite be Rapture without Big Daddies and Splicers.
Any celebration of the brilliant design of Rapture is one well worth checking out. This especially holds true since Rapture is unlikely to return in 2K Games' next BioShock project. A job listing from last summer indicated the relatively new 2K studio, Cloud Chamber, will introduce a "new and fantastical world" for its first foray into the franchise. As such, BioShock Infinite's city in the sky, Columbia, seems as though it, too, will take a backseat this time around.
BioShock isn't alone in its future being shrouded in mystery. Who knows where Bethesda may take Fallout next, barring the continued support of Fallout 76? The crew at Bethesda Games Studios presently has its hands full prioritizing Starfield's and The Elder Scrolls 6's development. Another Fallout could be on the back burner for quite some time.
Fallout 76 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
