A fan of Genshin Impact has created the famous Rust bow in real life with the help of a 3D printer. The bow is one of the more unique weapons in the popular RPG; unlike most bows in the game, Rust prioritizes normal attacks over aimed ones, making it an effective close-range option for players who'd typically be more comfortable sniping from afar.
Genshin Impact has been one of the most surprising success stories of 2020. The open world RPG, which was written off by many pre-launch as a Breath of the Wild clone, has taken on an identity and popularity of its own, fusing compelling singleplayer gameplay with controversial premium gacha mechanics. Fortunately, these infamous microtransactions are a relatively minor part of the experience. Fans have found plenty of ways to have fun and plenty of powerful weapons to collect without paying into this randomized loot box system, leaving them with a delightful and engaging open-world RPG that can be played for free.
Any popular video game is bound to spawn some impressive fan projects. For proof of this, one just has to look at Among Us and the veritable library of fan content created for it, including 3D film projects and alignment charts. Genshin Impact is no exception. Reddit user lelegacycrafting has proven this by constructing an impressive 3D model of the game's Rust bow. The build is very detail-oriented, and it quite accurately resembles the in-game bow. The fan didn't skimp on size, either; Rust's in-game flavor text makes it clear that the bow is so large that the average person couldn't hope to lift it, and that looks true of this model; lelegacycrafting proved this by putting it next to a pet corgi for scale. The adorable creature is almost dwarfed by this impressive model.
This isn't the first fan work that's been made for Genshin Impact, either. Following the reveal of Sephiroth as a DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, one fan imagined the legendary swordsman invading Genshin Impact as a 45-star playable hero, vastly outstripping even the most powerful characters present in the real game. Clearly there's a lot of admiration and love for Genshin Impact, and as the game grows in player count, the fan projects are sure to get more and more outlandish.
To call 2020 a year of surprises would be a vast understatement. Unexpected developments arose in just about every aspect of society, and while many of them were terrible, fans were also treated to some delightful new video games. The presence of a gacha mechanic kills a lot of games in terms of player interest before they've even begun, so it's very surprising to see Genshin Impact flourishing and thriving in spite of its monetization. This truly impressive 3D print is proof of how invested fans are in this bold new RPG.
