The MCU has been around since 2008, and with more than 20 movies under its belt, not to mention multiple TV shows, it had the time to introduce many great characters. Its heroes are usually busy fighting supervillains and saving the world. However, even the greatest superheroes sometimes deserve a break. And when such time comes, they often spent their free moments building romantic relationships.
While some MCU romances have become iconic, others weren't so popular with the fans. The truth is that maintaining a relationship isn't easy and there are simply some MCU heroes who would make better boyfriends, while others would be really bad.
10 Best: Scott Lang
Scott Lang is smart, but still makes mistakes. Friendly, but sometimes awkward. Funny, but he also takes unnecessary risks from time to time. While he's far from perfect, he is nevertheless one of the more relatable heroes in the MCU.
Although his criminal past could be a deal-breaker for some, Scott has since become a true hero ever since. Besides the fact he could make his partner laugh, he's also a good dad-material (since he's already a dad and gets along great with his daughter).
9 Worst: Bruce Banner (Before Professor Hulk)
Bruce Banner has a lot of positive character traits. He's extremely intelligent, kind, and loyal to his friends. Unfortunately, he also had significant anger issues in the past. As Bruce himself put it in Avengers (2012), he was always angry.
And having a relationship with someone who can, at any time, turn into an angry green giant would be highly dangerous. Nowadays, though, Banner seems to have better control over himself as Professor Hulk.
8 Best: T'Challa
Unlike a lot of his fellow superheroes, T'Challa didn't have too much drama going on in his personal life. When he parted ways with someone, he did so with grace. And he was once again able to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend without unnecessary complications. T'Challa is intelligent, gracious, and composed. What's more, he cares deeply about his family which is an attractive trait in men.
7 Worst: Vision
Vision has a lot of things going for him - he's highly intelligent, powerful, and treats people around him with kindness - even those who stood on the opposite side during the Civil War.
However, he also struggles with understanding basic human emotions, and his cold logic sometimes presents a problem in intimate relationships. Plus, he's an android, which means that he's not the best person in the MCU for potentially starting a family.
6 Best: Peter Parker
Peter Parker is one of the youngest heroes in the MCU, but he's better at relationships than many older heroes. It's true that Peter sometimes gets too lost in being Spider-Man and fighting the bad guys.
But he's also attentive to the girls he likes, doesn't push them, is relatable in his awkward behavior, and has a sense of humor. Peter spends a better part of his solo film trying to figure out how to let MJ know he likes her, so it's safe to assume he'd put a lot of care into any romantic relationship.
5 Worst: Steve Rogers
Steve Rogers is sweet, attentive, and loyal. All in all, he would make a great partner. If it wasn't for the fact that Steve deliberately closed himself off after he came to the 21st century. He focused on being Captain America and put his personal life aside. And before that, he was too busy fighting in WW2.
Plus, he never really stopped pining after Peggy Carter, the one woman he truly loved (even though he kissed her niece once). And no one likes to be second best to someone else.
4 Best: Tony Stark (After Avengers)
Who would have thought that the playboy billionaire could be a good boyfriend? When fans first met Tony, he used to have three women on each finger. But he slowly settled down after the Avengers (2012) and became more stable. He didn't always remember everything about his potential partner but he made an effort.
And in the end, he ended up being a great dad to his little daughter Morgan. Tony puts his energy into everything he cares about, so he would always try his hardest to be a good boyfriend.
3 Worst: Peter Quill
Peter Quill has never been the smartest superhero in the MCU, and it's his lack of consideration that makes him a bad person to date. While it's true that Peter means well, his good intentions sometimes lead to bad things happening.
Peter is funny, but he lets his emotions take control over his head, and as a result, he can impulsively do something that will destroy everything. That wouldn't be a good thing in relationships that require stability.
2 Best: Clint Barton
Clint Barton doesn't always get the attention and consideration he deserves since he's the only original Avenger without a solo film (and that includes Black Widow's upcoming movie). But no-one should forget that Clint is also the only original Avenger who was able to make work both his superhero activity and his family life.
Clint's family is everything to him, and when he lost his wife and children, he spiraled down a dark path. That means he's devoted to people he cares about and would always place them first.
1 Worst: Stephen Strange
Whoever would make the relationship with Stephen Strange work would need to have the patience of a saint. Stephen isn't a bad guy but his behavior and the initial impression he makes don't exactly warm him to people.
He's often convinced he's the smartest, most knowledgeable person in the room, and he acts according to this belief. As a result, he can come across as arrogant to those who don't know him well - and not everybody would stay around long enough to see there's more to him.
