Young Sheldon: 5 Reasons Why Missy Is The Best Cooper Sibling (& 5 Why It's Georgie)

While Sheldon Cooper is the lead of Young Sheldon, he's not the only character that's become a star. Indeed, audiences have grown to love Meemaw, George Sr. and even Mary, as their adventures and conflicts make them one of television's most entertaining, and relatable, families.

However, if there are two characters that have earned considerable praise from fans, it's Georgie and Missy Cooper. Charming, compelling, and very funny, they're both crucial parts of the Cooper household, each contributing their own unique, zany personality. They could both arguably be considered the best Cooper sibling because they certainly provide Young Sheldon with a lot of its heart and sass.

10 Georgie: He's Protective

On The Big Bang Theory, older Georgie mentions he had to take care of his family once George Sr. dies and Sheldon leaves. Audiences can see already see these protective and caring sides in the younger version of the character. Indeed, Georgie cares about his younger siblings, and he's shown it several times.

During one episode, he's surprised and concerned to find Missy and Sheldon at a party, and he escorts both of them back home. On another, while out in the mall with Missy, he gets upset that Missy's crush gets too close to her, going so far as screaming "No touching!"

9 Missy: She's Sassy

Missy's sense of humor is excellent. She shares a lot of similarities with Meemaw: they're both sarcastic, sharp, and quick-witted, which is why their relationship is so compelling. Very observant and intuitive, Missy is very much a savage and she knows it. "I'm kinda plugged into this town," she says in one episode after her father questions her surprising knowledge about the rumor mill.

She usually provides funny one-liners about any given situation, and while she does live in her own world, she still sees and understands a lot about reality and finds the humor in it. One of the absolute funniest characters in the show, she actually enjoys being a child, unlike Sheldon, the small adult.

8 Georgie: He's Maturing A Lot Faster

Georgie is considerably older than Missy, it's true. However, it's also true that boys mature a lot slower than girls. Georgie still does a lot of typical teenager antics, but he seems to have left behind his more brutish instincts. His deep love for Veronica turned him into a more caring, considerate person, for example. As he grows older and understands the importance of money and hard work, he's also becoming more responsible.

Georgie is eventually forced to step up as he becomes his family's main support. Young Sheldon has done a very good job in reflecting how, when the time comes, he'll be able to take on the challenge and succeed.

7 Missy: She's Very Intelligent

Missy may not be a genius like Sheldon, but that shouldn't suggest she's dumb. Like Penny, another female character in TBBT universe who's constantly belittled and underestimated, Missy has killer instincts and street-smarts. She's curious, perceptive, and observant, which means she's often asking some truly hilarious and uncomfortable questions.

In one episode, she asks why Madonna is "only like a virgin." When she's denied the character of her choosing during a game of D&D, she instead chooses the wizard, so that she can turn herself into her original option with her magic. Quick and sharp as a blade, Missy's brains would be seen and encouraged if they were not eclipsed by Sheldon's more obvious and traditional intelligence.

6 Georgie: He's Ambitious

From a young age, Georgie proves his ambition and desire to improve his situation. He has a vision of himself and tries a lot of things to realize it.

During one episode, he and Sheldon try extracting platinum from gravel, although it all ends terribly. On another, he buys Texas snow globes from a store going out of business and re-sells them by appealing to Texans' fond memories of snow. Georgie is a natural salesman, who not only understands the art of a sale, but actually likes it. He uses this talent to become a self-made millionaire, and he laughs all the way to the bank.

5 Missy: She's Original

From the start of the show, Missy marches to her own beat. She's very much her own person and is not afraid of showing it.

She easily switches between playing with dolls and stuffed animals, while she would also be seen wearing shades and playing the guitar in front of the mirror. During the D&D game, she asks to be a Ninja-Turtle-Princess-of-Power. In another episode, she asks to have orange hair, like Cyndi Lauper. She also likes sports and proves to be excellent at them. Missy is unique, a bright, flashy fish in a very dull-looking pond.

4 Georgie: He's A Romantic

Georgie may act all cool and confident, but deep down, he's a big, old romantic. When his crush, Veronica, comes to stay at his house, he goes out of his way to impress her. He even fills the room with flowers, teddy bears, and a cross he made out of popsicle sticks and glitter when he was a kid. Even after she turns him down, Georgie still makes a great effort to be her friend and is still considerate of her feelings.

When he believes Jana is pregnant, he is terrified but still supportive of her, even if he does say the wrong thing in the end. And even though he says a lot of typical, jerk-ish things in the earlier seasons, Georgie becomes a lot more caring with each new episode.

3 Missy: She's Supportive

Missy is very close to pretty much every member of her family, sharing numerous intimate moments with all of them. In one episode, Missy's highly developed empathy makes her relate to her mother's struggles. "Being a mom is hard, isn't it?" she asks her mother before asking, "If you ever wanna talk about it, I'm here for you."

For a child, Missy has great emotional intelligence, confirmed in one episode by some tests. She's someone who understands and correctly identifies when others are in need of support, and she's more than happy to provide it.

2 Georgie: He's Independent

Once Georgie starts earning his own money, he makes big plans. Sometimes they're less logical than others, but it's obvious he doesn't see himself living with his family much longer. Georgie is not someone who wants everything handed to him. Even when he asks his father for money, he makes sure to state he'll pay back every cent.

This attitude is what leads him to build his empire. Georgie is hungry for more and understands he needs hard work to get it. And the fact he always sees his future as something he achieves for himself is telling of just how independent he really is, especially compared to his overly dependent younger brother.

1 Missy: She's Honest And Direct

Just like her Meemaw, Missy takes a no-prisoners attitude. She lays down the truth and sometimes does it in a brutally honest way. In one episode, she says "I don't know how my mom kisses him," referring to her dad. In another, when asked to interpret a picture full of monkey, she points at a painting in the wall and says "the Meemaw monkey" must be dead, since she's not around.

Missy's direct approach to dealing with things is both refreshing and impressive. She says things that Sheldon might say, but in a more light-hearted way, which makes her an interesting and stark contrast to the boy genius.
