Cosmic Sin Trailer Sends Bruce Willis To Space In Master Chief Style Costume

Bruce Willis channels Halo’s Master Chief in the new trailer for Cosmic Sin. The upcoming sci-fi epic tells the story of seven elite soldiers who, after contact with an alien civilization, are tasked with enacting a preemptive assault against them to prevent an intergalactic war. Starring Bruce Willis (Die Hard), Cosmic Sin is written and directed by Edward Drake. The two have recently teamed together with another spacefaring feature, Breach, released internationally in December 2020, which starred Willis and was written by Drake. Cosmic Sin also stars Frank Grillo (Captain America: Civil War), Adelaide Kane (The Purge), and Luke Wilson (Zombieland: Double Tap).

Cosmic Sin's premise bears a striking resemblance to the world-renowned X-Box video game franchise, Halo, which first spawned in 2001 with Halo: Combat Evolved. Immensely popular, it would go on to launch multiple sequels and spinoff games, permeating throughout pop-culture in the form of toys, books, anime features, and a live-action series currently in production. Much like Cosmic Sin, Halo involves an intergalactic war between humanity and an alien race called “the Covenant.” At the forefront of said war are armed human space rangers known as “Spartans” and one of their top military soldiers named Master Chief.

Courtesy of the new Cosmic Sin trailer released by Saban Films on their YouTube channel, Willis resembles a Halo Spartan in both appearance and presence. The video showcases Willis, a retired military vet, called back into service for the high-stakes first strike. He’s shown gearing up with a Halo-like assault rifle and clad in futuristic, interplanetary battle armor similar to that of Master Chief as he and his unit make their way to the alien world on their perilous mission. You can watch the trailer below:

No stranger to saving the planet, some of Willis’s most notable work includes films like 1997’s The Fifth Element. Directed by Luc Besson, Willis, as taxi driver/ everyman Korben Dallas, finds himself defending future Earth from an interstellar menace. That burden would fall to him once more, a year later, in 1998’s Armageddon. However, this time, as opposed to facing off against a sentient antagonist, the big-budget blockbuster Michael Bay picture sees Willis as driller/ everyman Harry Stamper, protecting the planet from an aberrant asteroid set on a deadly collision course.

Willis’s film resume has thoroughly prepared him for Cosmic Sin. From taking down terrorists in a skyscraper in Die Hard to dropping bombs on space rocks in Armageddon (similar to the mission at the center of Cosmic Sin), Willis is the right person for the job. Further outfitting him in rugged, space combat gear, similar to Halo’s Master Chief, and you have a hero perfectly set to safeguard Earth against any threat. Cosmic Sin will be released in theaters, on digital, and on-demand on March 12.
