Keke Palmer has signed on to the cast of Jordan Peele’s third feature film, following Us and Get Out. Keke Palmer, who got her start as a child actress, broke out with the lead role in 2006’s Akeelah and the Bee. Her later work included a lead role in the television series Scream Queens, lending her voice to Peaches in the Ice Age franchise, and recently was seen in the critically acclaimed 2019 hit film Hustlers. Now she has secured a role in the next film from one of the most prominent directors working today.
Deadline reports Keke Palmer has signed on to the cast of Jordan Peele’s untitled film. Little is known about the project currently other than it being produced under Jordan Peele’s production company Monkeypaw Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures and targets a July 22, 2022 release date. Peele and Palmer have previously worked together on the sketch series Key and Peele, where Palmer guest-starred in an episode.
Peele’s directorial debut Get Out earned $255 million worldwide and scored four Academy Award nominations, including a win for Jordan Peele for Best Original Screenplay, making him one of the most in-demand filmmakers. His follow-up film Us earned $255 million worldwide. Since then, Peele's produced the Candyman remake due in theaters in summer 2021 and a remake of The People Under the Stairs.
Monkeypaw Productions also have produced hit television series such as The Twilight Zone revival on CBS All Access, Hunters for Amazon, and Lovecraft Country for HBO Max. Peele’s upcoming film will be the first time the director has opened a picture in the summer movie season and will open the week after the untitled third Fantastic Beast film and a week before Indiana Jones 5. Yet, based on his past track record, there is a strong indication this film will also be a box-office hit.
