During the 2000s and 2010s, there were so many spectacular sports games and many people still enjoy playing them today. It is clear that more competition in the sports gaming market would be excellent, as it could very well spark developers to work harder to produce new and better content.

10 MVP Baseball

MVP Baseball is a series that so many baseball fans want to see come back. It was strange to see it even disappear in the first place, as it was clearly at the top of its competition until the end.

MLB The Show is not necessarily a bad series either, but some healthy competition would be great to see. If a modern game could replicate the stupendous quality of the previous series, it would easily become a massive hit.

9 ESPN NHL 2K

With the NHL finally returning to the channel, it would truly be marvelous to see them bring back ESPN NHL 2K. When having the network's label, this series has its best games by a long shot.

EA Sports produces decent hockey games, but they also fail to make many changes. Perhaps bringing back this series would inspire them to add a plethora of new features to the game, as many gamers would likely switch to 2K.

8 NFL Blitz

NFL Blitz is a series that many people still love to play after so many years. This is especially the case when it comes to its older games, as they are truly stupendous in every way imaginable.

MLB 2K definitely is a series that has a lot of fun games to choose from. It is another example of one that went off on top, as their final installments are still extremely enjoyable.

It is honestly surprising that a new game from them has to come into fruition, as the interest from gamers is definitely there. It has a lot of potential to produce something special if they choose to go down this road again.

6 NBA Street

NBA Street is such a fun series and produces some of the most classic sports games of all-time. It has not been active for quite a while now, but that does not mean that people are not yearning for it to return.

The outstanding arcade style of this series, as well as its overall vibe, makes it such a fun game to always go back to. It would truly turn the gaming world on its head if it comes back.

5 NFL 2K

It is apparent that people are starting to get fed up with Madden NFL, as this year's release is being heavily criticized by them. Many of these gamers would love to see NFL 2K come back, as its classic games are still beloved at this said juncture.

4 MLB Slugfest

MLB Slugfest takes baseball video games to an entirely different level, as it is full of violence. This is ultimately what would allow these games to stand out, but it also helps that they are simply entertaining for the baseball elements of it too. This is another example of a fun arcade classic that ultimately deserves a return to today's consoles. Gamers are being given the same product from MLB The Show every year, so it is truly time to spice things up with its return.

3 NHL Hitz

NHL Hitz is another game that is much more violent and zany than today's NHL games. It is a series that people are still very interested in playing, as it is honestly timeless with how entertaining it is.

The final installment of this game came in 2003, so a return does seem very unlikely. However, it would be so amazing to see it come back still, as it left quite an impact on the gaming community, even if it came to its conclusion quickly.

2 Mario Strikers

With Mario sports games coming back, it is a necessity for a new installment from the Mario Strikers series. These games are some of the most popular sport games to ever come from the Mario franchise and for good reason.

It offers an entirely new spin to the sport, while also allowing the player to control an abundance of popular characters from the series. If a new game does not come to the Nintendo Switch, it will warrant immense criticism from fans.

1 Backyard Baseball

For the record, if Backyard Baseball is to ever return, it needs to go back to its original players and graphics model. Of course, some polishing up will need to be done, but they absolutely cannot go back to the way it looks in its newest additions.

The magic of the series came from the first few installments and fans still want it back that way. Also, having the ability to hit a plethora of dingers with stars like Pablo Sanchez and Achmed Khan again is quite a necessity.
