It was a huge surprise when Vicki Gunvalson left The Real Housewives of Orange County after 14 seasons. That's not only a really long time to star on a reality show, but viewers had been following Vicki since the premiere in 2006. From watching her run her insurance business to learning more about her kids, love life, and friendships, fans feel like they know her very well.
Vicki is considered a popular OG housewife and her absence is definitely felt on the series. But while sometimes fans could see exactly where Vicki was coming from, other times, it was impossible to feel that she did the right thing.
10 Supported: When She Learned About Her Mother's Death While Filming
Fans will remember that in a season 10 episode of RHOC, Vicki got a phone call and learned that her beloved mother had passed away.
Of course, Vicki was very upset and started crying immediately. Fans felt terribly for Vicki here and anyone who has lost a family member can relate to this sad scene. While Vicki could fight with others and viewers didn't always love her, she proved that she's a caring, relatable person in this episode.
9 Didn't: When She Dated Brooks And Denied His Cancer Lie
Of all the RHOC storylines, learning that Brooks lied about having cancer was pretty wild.
Fans couldn't support Vicki during this time, as her friends could tell that something seemed off, and she wouldn't listen to them. Meghan King Edmonds realized that Brooks was using fake medical docs, and shared that because her friend had cancer, she couldn't stay silent. It took Vicki a long time to admit that her relationship wasn't working out, and it was confusing that she couldn't see that her pals cared about her well-being.
8 Supported: When She Fell During A Key West Vacation
The women of RHOC went on many vacations and at least one memorable thing usually took place.
On one trip, Vicki fell after she had some drinks and went swimming. Vicki went to the hospital in an ambulance, and even though she could be very dramatic in many instances, it would be hard not to sympathize with her pain in this situation. She was just trying to have a good time and definitely didn't expect to get hurt in the process.
7 Didn't: When She Spread A Rumor About Kelly's Daughter Jolie
While Kelly Dodd isn't perfect, no one deserves to hear rumors about themselves or their family.
Fans learned that Vicki spread a rumor about Kelly's daughter Jolie: Emily Simpson told Kelly that Vicki said, "you’re not allowed to step foot on your daughter’s school.” There is often a lot of gossip on the Real Housewives and people will often say that they're just repeating what they heard and they're not the source of the rumor. But either way, Vicki was in the wrong here, as she shouldn't have said anything at all.
6 Supported: When She Shared With Her Pals That She Was Engaged
Viewers saw Vicki splitting up with her second husband Donn and searching for love after that, so it was sweet when she shared that she had fallen in love with Steve Lodge.
In one season 14 scene, Vicki invited Tamra, Emily, and Gina over for some food and wine and a "surprise." She was excited to tell them that she and Steve had gotten engaged. This was very relatable as it's hard not to want to tell everyone when there's such good news to share. Vicki said she was overheated and held up her hand with her sparkling ring on it, and everyone screamed and hugged her. Tamra said, "Vicki's love tank is finally full."
5 Didn't: When She Asked Her Friends To Not Discuss Sex (When She Herself Did)
From complaining about being sent a family van to some of the things she has yelled during confrontations, Vicki has said many quotes over the years that fans can't forget about. It seemed like in every episode she was in, she said something that turned heads.
In one episode, the women went zip-lining and Vicki said that they shouldn't be discussing sex. Tamra didn't understand why Vicki was saying that since Vicki herself brought up that topic sometimes, and Tamra said, "You can’t say one thing and do another. That’s what a hypocrite is." Of course, that upset Vicki even more.
4 Supported: When She Wanted A Girls' Trip In Season 5
Of course it's wonderful to go on vacation with a partner, but it can also be nice to go away with a close group of friends. Vicki wanted a girls' trip in the fifth season, but it didn't go as planned.
She asked her friends not to bring their significant others, but she was shocked when Slade Smiley showed up. Alexis asked her then-husband Jim to come and Tamra asked Simon as well. While some might say that Vicki was being too controlling here, it's hard to blame her for wanting some time away with her friends.
3 Didn't: When She And Briana Fought About Brooks
From her health struggles to her marriage and adorable kids, fans of RHOC have gotten to know Vicki's daughter Briana over the years.
It was really sad when Briana told her mom that she wasn't sure about her romance with Brooks and Vicki took her boyfriend's side. Fans couldn't support Vicki here, as it seemed more important to maintain her close and loving relationship with her daughter, especially since it was clear that Brooks most likely wasn't being completely honest with Vicki about his life. No fan wanted to see Vicki and Briana fighting.
2 Supported: When She Seemed Envious Of Tamra And Gretchen's Friendship
Some Real Housewives shows are more fun to watch than others and when Vicki, Tamra, and Gretchen were on the show, there was always something entertaining going on. There was often conflict because of the friendship dynamics here.
When fans watched season 7 of RHOC, it seemed like Vicki was at least a little bit upset that Tamra and Gretchen were becoming closer. Tamra even told her in one episode that it was nothing to be concerned about and that of course they would stay good friends. It's tough when a best friend starts hanging out a lot with someone else, and it's easy to feel left out.
1 Didn't: When She Said Meghan Would Get Divorced
Vicki said Meghan and Jim's marriage would last five years and according to People, Jim filed for divorce right around the five-year mark.
While Vicki was actually right in this case, it was still mean to comment on Meghan's marriage and say that it wasn't going to work out. If someone had said this to Vicki, it seems likely that she would take offense and wonder why they were being so harsh.
