Bachelor: How The Women From Colton's Season Reacted To Him Being Gay

After coming out as gay, former star of The Bachelor Colton Underwood has received loving messages on social media from many Bachelor Nation alums, but the ones from the women on his season were especially meaningful. Colton apologized to all the women who competed for his heart in his Good Morning America interview, but it looks like it wasn't needed.

Colton's journey on The Bachelor was put in a different perspective when he came out as gay yesterday morning. Bachelor Nation has been very supportive of Colton and understanding of his struggle with his sexuality. In the interview, Colton revealed he knew he was different for a long time, but he struggled to come to terms with and embrace his sexuality. However, he's now ready to be his authentic self, and he has the support of Bachelor Nation behind him.

As runner-up on Colton's season, Tayshia's response was highly anticipated. She wrote on Twitter, "@colton I am so proud of you for finally being able to share and live your truth. Sending you love and support!" The former Bachelorette also released a statement to Peoplesaying, "I'm very happy that Colton is able to now live his life openly and without fear of being his true self. I support his willingness to share his truth and welcome the additional LGBTQ representation to Bachelor Nation with open arms." Tayshia will be hosting the new season of The Bachelorette with Kaitlyn Bristowe, and is embracing her new position as a spokesperson for the show. Tayshia is currently engaged to Zac Clark, who she met on The Bachelorette last spring.

Hannah was the other runner-up on Colton's slightly unusual season finale. In a statement to Us Weeklyshe said, "I support Colton for having the courage to finally be able to live his life authentically. Nobody should have to hide from who they really are. I'll always wish Colton the very best and hoping he has found his peace." Hannah is now engaged to Dylan Barbour, who she met on Bachelor In Paradise

Before becoming the BacheloretteHannah Brown finished in fourth place on Colton's season of The Bachelor. She took to Instagram to post her thoughts on Colton's coming out. "So proud of @coltonunderwood. Sending you support every step of the way as you continue to embark on your self-discovery journey," she wrote with a heart emoji. Hannah didn't find love on The Bachelorette, but is now in a relationship with model Adam Woolard.

Another top place finisher on Colton's season was Demi Burnett, who has since come out as bisexual. She got engaged to her now ex-girlfriend Kristian Haggerty on Bachelor In Paradise later that year. Demi tweeted, "Welcome to the community brother," with a rainbow emoji to express her support for Colton. "I love that my season of The Bachelor was the season of homosexuality," Demi said in an Instagram story. "Let's get gay!" As one of the only LGBTQ people to have appeared on the franchise, Demi is a huge advocate for gay rights. She also posted memes about her and Colton both being gay on her Instagram story.

Other notable reactions from Colton's ladies came from Nicole Lopez-Alvar, Onyeka Ehie, Tahzjuan Hawkins, and Catherine Agro. Nicole, also an alum of Bachelor In Paradise, wrote on Twitter, "I'm so proud of you, @colton!" Onyeka tweeted, "Happy for @colton for speaking his truth. We support you. Just a reminder that homophobic comments will not be accepted or tolerated today or any day. You've been warned." Despite not making it to the finale, Onyeka was one of the first to show her support for Colton.

Season 23 alums Tahzjuan Hawkins and Catherine Agro showed their support for Colton as well. "I commend you @colton for speaking your truth. In the world we live in today, show kindness, it's free," wrote Tahzjuan on Twitter. Catherine took to Instagram to write, "Proud of you for having the courage to come out and be honest with yourself and the world."

The winner of Colton's season, Cassie Randolph, has yet to comment on the news. An insider told Us Weekly that Cassie is "still processing" the information and didn't know Colton would be coming out. "She was not made aware in advance that he was going to be on GMA doing a tell-all. To be honest, she hasn't really had time to navigate how she feels about it yet," the source continued.

Cassie and Colton broke up in January 2020, and it was reportedly very painful for both of them. Cassie filed a restraining order against Colton later that year after he allegedly put a tracking device in her car. "I got into a place with my personal life that was dark and bad," Colton said of the incident, "I'd like to say sorry for how things ended. I messed up. I made a lot of bad choices." Us Weekly's source said the breakup was "an emotional journey" for Cassie and that "she has not been in communication with Colton." The source concluded, "Cassie has moved on from that part of her life and wishes him well." She has been rumored to be dating musician Brighton Reinhardt since August last year.

Many other Bachelor alums have also wished Colton well. Host Chris Harrison posted on Instagram for the first time since his racism scandal to say he was "very proud" of Colton. "Happy to see you stand up and openly live your truth. You have my love and support my friend," he captioned a photo of the two of them together. Other execs chimed in as well, writing in a joint statement, "We are so inspired by Colton Underwood's courage to embrace and pursue his authentic self. As firm believers in the power of love, we celebrate Colton's journey in the LGBTQIA+ community every step of the way."
