The Real Housewives Of New Jersey: 5 Times Fans Supported Dolores (& 5 Times She Went Too Far)

Dolores Catania has been a full-time housewife on The Real Housewives of New Jersey since season 7 but she's been a presence on the show since season 1. If fans rewatch the series, they'll notice that Dolores is in the background of many early scenes, as she's been friends with some of the ladies for decades.

Over the years, Dolores has been consistent in her values and ideals but that doesn't mean fans have always supported her views. Dolores's main schtick on the show is her dedication to loyalty. Ironically, Dolores hasn't always been loyal and has her contradictory moments that have torn fans over the past five seasons.

10 Supported: She Was Spot-On About Danielle

Dolores has never been fond of Danielle Staub. Danielle's first two seasons on The Real Housewives said a lot about her character and tainted any potential relationship Dolores could have with her. As an adult, Dolores tolerated Danielle's presence when she and Teresa became friends again in later seasons but she knew Danielle couldn't be trusted. She even warned everyone that Danielle's true nature would show itself, and that's exactly what happened when Danielle physically assaulted Margaret and threatened Jennifer.

9 Went Too Far: She Cannot Be Friends With Jackie For This Reason...

It was a hard pill for Jackie to swallow when Dolores admitted that she couldn't be friends with her. Jackie always thought she was friends with Dolores so the truth hurt when it came out. And sadly, Dolores' reasons for not wanting to be friends with Jackie were harsh.

While in Jamacia, Dolores told Jackie that she was too emotional and liberal to be friends with. Those traits didn't align with her upbringing, which made it hard for her to be friends with her. Those cruel words upset viewers, especially those who had the same views as Jackie.

8 Supported: Her Relationship Is No One's Business

Dolores is irritated by the group's fascination about her relationship with her boyfriend David and ex-husband Frank. Season by season, her friends are more and more bewildered by their dynamic and can't help but talk about it. But that doesn't make it easy for Dolores. She's allowed to be best friends with her ex-husband and be in a committed relationship with David. She shouldn't have to defend that to anyone who isn't in a relationship with them.

7 Went Too Far: She Went Too Far Against Margaret

In Siggy's second season, she brought Margaret into the group to meet the ladies. Everyone loved Margaret from the start, which appeared to drive Siggy crazy. Siggy hated that Magaret was getting along with the other ladies better than she was.

This started a battle between Siggy and Margaret. At the time, Dolores and Siggy were very close, so she stood by Siggy's views. But where things became juvenile is when Dolores and Siggy had a sleepover where they did their hair like Margaret's and made fun of her throughout the night.

6 Supported: Her Fear Of Being Alone Is Relatable

When Dolores' son went to college, she was an empty nester and feeling anxious. It has been decades since Dolores lived alone and she was lonely. The fear of being in a big house by yourself with no true companion is very real; it was a sentiment that fans felt wholeheartedly. When Frank Sr. moved in with Dolores, she finally had someone to come home to (even though they weren't romantically involved).

5 Went Too Far: She Compares Everyone To Italian People

Dolores grew up with Teresa and has been friends with the Manzo family for just as long. With all of them having Italian roots, they got along perfectly because of their similar upbringing. And while Teresa, Dina, and Caroline can get along with those with different backgrounds, Dolores has a hard time doing the same thing. Fans can't stand how she compares everyone to Italian people — especially her gruff words about Jackie being raised Jewish compared to her Catholic upbringing.

4 Supported: Her Charitable Work Rounded Out Her Character

In season 11, Dolores showed off her dedication to women and health when she won an award for her philanthropy for breast cancer research. It was beautiful for fans to get to know a different side of Dolores, especially since there are some fans who don't think Dolores' life is entertaining enough to be a housewife. Seeing her win this award gave her substance and put her in a different light.

3 Went Too Far: How Could She Defend Siggy Over Marg?

The friendship between Siggy and Marg died when Siggy made claims that Marg was anti-Semitic. Marg defended herself (as did her friends) and was devastated that Siggy would say those things, let alone believe them. With Marg's children being Jewish, those words hurt her deeply.

When the women asked Dolores how she felt about her BFF Siggy making those claims, Dolores defended her. Dolores stated that Siggy was allowed to feel how she felt, even though the claims were not just wrong but damaging.

2 Supported: The Anxiety She Has Over Her Parents' Health

Like many of the other housewives, Dolores is very concerned for her parents' health and safety. With them getting older, her mother and father began having various health issues that Dolores tried tackling. In a few episodes, she focused on getting both of her parents to eat better and focus on walks for activity. Unfortunately for Dolores, both of her parents seem stuck in their ways and became irritated by Dolores' intervention. It's an emotional subject in which fans sympathized with her

1 Went Too Far: She Shouldn't Have Walked In The Posche Fashion Show

Things in the group were never more divided than when Siggy and Dolores against the other women regarding the Posche Fashion show. Kim D's Posche Fashion show does not have a good track record on RHONJ — most shows end in a scuffle or verbal altercation. In this episode, the women were astounded when Dolores and Siggy promised Kim that they would walk in her fashion show, even though Kim was spreading nasty rumors about Dolores' best friend, Teresa. For a woman who preaches loyalty, Dolores had none on this night.
