Warzone Is Counting Down To The End Of Season Two | Screen Rant

Developers on Twitter are counting down to the end of Call of Duty: Warzone's Season Two. Warzone is a free-to-play installment in the classic shooter franchise that allows up to 150 players to fight it out in battle royale combat. The game launched in March of last year and has continued to receive support from developers Infinity Ward and Raven Software.

Call of Duty: Warzone's second season began on February 25, but the game is set to transition into Season Three on April 22. Players have recently noticed subtle changes to the game's Verdansk map, supporting a theory that the game will shift into a 1980s setting for its third season. These changes are said to be quite substantial, with some parts of Verdansk being completely changed to match an overall Cold War-inspired aesthetic. However, for now the changes are restricted to small details such as store signage. Some players have also managed to find upcoming weapons in Warzone's files, giving a glimpse at what is to come in Season Three.

Call of Duty's Twitter account has begun counting down towards April 21, signaling the end of Warzone's Season Two. The post teases a big change coming to the game, ominously stating "The end is near" with a video depicting a pixelated skull emblem. This is the first real tease that the developers have offered for Season Three of Warzone, so further posts can be expected as they count down towards the fateful date.

It has long been rumored that Verdansk, the current location of Warzone's large-scale battle royale combat, will be the victim of a nuclear detonation. This impact would trigger the game's transition into a brand new map, likely acting as the biggest change the game has ever experienced. A presumed glitch recently caused a nuclear missile, usually seen soaring high above Verdask, to crash down onto the map while a match was in session. The impact left no widespread destruction in its wake, but it may serve as a preview of what is to come when Season Two of Warzone comes to a close.

Call of Duty: Warzone's free-to-play model, battle royale gameplay and frequent updates have kept players engaged since launch. With the end of Season Two, the game may very well experience a dramatic change that draws in both veteran fans and brand new players. The Twitter countdown is just the start of promotion for Season Three, and the anticipation of what the new season will bring will continue to entice gamers.
