The Sinister War is coming for Marvel's Spider-Man, and its finale promises to deliver his biggest and worst beatdown ever. Seeing two Sinister Six teams warring with each other, Peter Parker will soon find himself right in the middle of their massive battle. As a result, it looks as though the Webslinger will have to fight through a brutal gauntlet to survive the upcoming event, and he might not get through it unscathed if this new teaser is to be believed. While fans may have thought that Spider-Man just went through the worst defeat of his life, Sinister War could put recent issues to shame.
Thanks to other previews, it looks as though the summer will belong to Spider-Man's villains, seeing Doctor Octopus forming a new iteration of the classic Sinister Six. However, Vulture will be creating a villain team himself with the Savage Six as well, leading to a massive war between the two rival teams. As a result, Spider-Man is going to do what he can to stop both groups, but he also might make things worse. If there was one person who could unify both teams of rogues, it would be Peter Parker, due to the fact that all the assembled villains would like nothing more than to see Spider-Man dead.
Furthermore, it looks as though the new preview for the final issue reveals that Spider-Man might have some major regrets about getting involved by the event's conclusion, as Nick Spencer and Mark Bagley's Sinister War #4 reveals that the Webslinger will not be in good shape at all. Here's the synopsis and cover art from Bryan Hitch for the issue from Marvel Comics:
- SINISTER WAR #4 (OF 4)
- NICK SPENCER (W) • MARK BAGLEY (A) • Cover by BRYAN HITCH
- Connecting Variant COVER by MARK BAGLEY
- HANDBOOK VARIANT COVER BY DAVID BALDEON
- VARIANT COVER BY JEFFREY VEREGGE
- Variant COVER by TBA
- Things just got worse for Spider-Man. IT Didn’t seem possible, but it’s true.
- If you think you have seen Spider-Man take a beating, you haven’t seen anything this brutal.
- 32 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99
Clearly, Spider-Man is in a tough spot with the cover art, caught in the mass of Doc Ock's metal tentacle arms as well as what are most likely Kindred's giant centipedes. The demon's presence in Sinister War would make sense, seeing as how Kindred was just freed by Norman Osborn in the most recent issue of Amazing Spider-Man. Furthermore, it's absolutely crazy to think that Peter might soon endure a worse beating than what Kindred did to Spider-Man in recent comics, literally killing him in all sorts of different ways only to resurrect him again to keep on killing him.
Cleary, Spider-Man is in for a really difficult time when Sinister War arrives, and the final issue looks as though it's going to have some incredible odds for Spider-Man to overcome. Hopefully, the Webslinger won't have to do it all himself, and the positive is that he's currently working with an assembled dream team of Marvel Heroes such as Luke Cage, Wolverine, Iron Fist, and more to take down Kingpin. Perhaps they can stick around to help Spider-Man against these new teams of villains? Fans will have to wait and see when Sinister War begins this July, with the fourth and final issue coming in August.
