There are so many projects being spit out of Marvel at the minute, whether it’s TV shows about anti-heroes or movies introducing new characters, but one of the most anticipated is the upcoming Spider-Man film, No Way Home. There have been so many updates, news, and rumors about the movie ever since the second film hit theatres, and it’s hard to keep track.
Whether it’s news of the inclusion of the Spider-Verse, rumors of actors making cameos, or setting up the future of the MCU, No Way Home is shaping up to be one of the most convoluted but most exciting movies ever made. At this point in time, it’s hard to separate the official updates of the movie from what is simply hear-say, but these are all the actors and characters confirmed to be appearing in the upcoming blockbuster.
11 MJ / Zendaya
With MJ being Peter’s love interest for the past two movies, there’s no way Zendaya wouldn’t return to the fold for the third entry. And given that she’s a fan favorite due to how unique she is from other love interests in previous Spider-Man movies, it’d be blasphemy if she didn’t come back.
However, there isn’t much information surrounding Zendaya’s character’s role in No Way Home, as there only a couple of set photos showing her playing basketball.
10 Julius Dell / J.B. Smoove
Arguably being the MVP of Spider-Man: Far From Home, J.B. Smoove’s Julius Dell, the haphazard school teacher, was one of the funniest things about the movie. And given that the Spider-Man series had already seen a handful of comedians in roles, including Martin Starr and Hannibal Buress, Smoove was the crown jewel.
The improv master has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Dell in the third movie, but strangely enough, there is no word on Starr returning as Roger Harrington, as the pair made a great comedic duo.
9 May Parker / Marisa Tomei
Aunt May is possibly one of the recurring characters who has appeared the most in the MCU who isn’t actually a superhero, as No Way Home will be her fifth outing in the cinematic universe. But whenever she is on screen, it’s always a pleasure, as her younger, more bubbly take on the character is still as fresh as it was in Captain America: Civil War.
Though she hasn’t revealed much about May’s arc in the upcoming movie, Marisa Tomei has said that she’ll continue down the route of being a community organizer. But fans will surely be disappointed if the movie doesn’t expand on her romance with Happy.
8 Max Dillon / Jamie Foxx
As it’s confirmed that No Way Home will connect other Spider-Verses, the first big piece of news to come of this was that Jamie Foxx will return as Electro. Electro’s first and only appearance was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which received lackluster reviews, many of which took shots at Foxx’s portrayal of the character, so it’ll be interesting to see how that’s retconned.
Though there’s a possibility that it could get too weird and meta, there are just as many positive outcomes too.
7 Dr. Strange / Benedict Cumberbatch
As it has become a regular occurrence for other heroes to not just have cameos in other movies, but main roles, it seems like this time around Doctor Strange will be acting as the Tony Stark-like father figure to Peter.
Though it’s always exciting to see Doctor Strange pop up in the MCU, whether it’s in his own movies or in Thor: Ragnorak, it’s cause for concern and could lead to a saturation of superheroes, as there’s just so much going on in No Way Home.
6 Coach Wilson / Hannibal Buress
In the same set photos in which Zendaya appears, Hannah Buress is back as Coach Wilson, overseeing the students playing basketball. Though he might play a tertiary character in the series, it’s great news to hear that Buress is back, as he was absent from Far From Home given that the movie followed the characters on a trip around Europe.
The character’s dry humor and lack of care about the students made for some of the biggest laughs in Homecoming, and it’s more than welcome back.
5 Otto Octavius / Alfred Molina
Being what is possibly the most exciting casting announcement to come about a movie that has seemingly had thousands of announcements at this point, Alfred Molina will return as Otto Octavius, a.k.a. Doctor Octopus.
Molina’s only appearance as Doc Ock was in Spider-Man 2, considered one of the greatest comic-book movies of all time, and unlike Foxx’s Electro, the character is one of the most beloved on-screen supervillains in history. Though it’s unclear what kind of role he will play, Molina will be de-aged to look like he did in 2004, and he could have a romance with Aunt May.
4 Ned / Jacob Batalon
What would Tom Holland’s Spider-Man be without the guy in the chair? Jacob Batalon will of course be returning as Ned, Peter’s right hand man, and the actor went through somewhat of his own MCU workout regime, as he lost over 100 pounds for the role.
On top of that, there are rumors swirling that hint at him becoming the Hobgoblin, as a piece of Sony marketing shows him with the classic orange hood that the villain wears in the comics sketched on his head.
3 Flash Thompson / Tony Revolori
Another fan favorite, Flash Thompson, the rich kid with mommy issues is returning to bully Peter once again. After four hours of Flash berating Peter and bullying him relentlessly, the series seems like it can’t end without there being a big reveal where Flash finds out that Peter Parker is in fact Spider-Man.
As if there isn’t already enough going on in the movie, No Way Home could see Flash turn into Anti-Venom, which is what happens to the character in the comics.
2 Peter Parker / Tom Holland
Though rumors have been heavy on Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as Peter Parker from the previous series, they have never been confirmed and Garfield has even denied the claims.
The multiple Spider-Men is something the series could choose to adapt, and it seems very likely that that’s exactly what’s going to happen. But for now, the only confirmation is that Holland will be back web-slinging.
1 Happy Hogan / Jon Favreau
After being Peter Parker’s reluctant babysitter in both Homecoming and Far From Home, Happy Hogan will be back at it again, as he’ll no doubt be telling Peter what to do while flirting with his Aunt. Again, details surrounding Happy’s role in the movie are scarce.
However, as he was heavily involved in the events of Far From Home so much that he was even in combat with the kids in the final act, he could be an important part of the threequel too.
