Maci Bookout and Ryan Edwards are Teen Mom alums who were one of the original couples, and we have the complete timeline of their ill-fated relationship. MTV's reality series showed that Maci and Ryan (who later went to jail and rehab) never had a solid foundation, and the parents' rapport has grown more troubled since their breakup. They were teenage parents and they now get into heated fights at reunions.
Maci and Ryan's romance was first introduced to the world with Maci's teenage pregnancy on 16 and Pregnant in 2008. At the time of Maci's pregnancy at the end of the 2000s, 16-year-old Maci and Ryan are a young couple trying to make their dating life work while preparing for a child. On October 27, 2008, Maci gives birth to her and Ryan's first child, Bentley Cadence Edwards. By 2009, Ryan and Maci are officially engaged, with the intention to create a family structure that is at least somewhat traditional. However, the couple split before 2010, on the second episode of Teen Mom. In line with most OG 16 and Pregnant relationships (such as Jordan Cashmyer and Derek Taylor's), Maci and Ryan never formally rekindled their relationship. They remain in each other's lives, for better or for worse.
Shortly after she breaks up with Ryan, Maci embarks on a new romantic relationship. In 2010, Maci starts dating her childhood friend Kyle King. For a brief period of time, Maci even moves to Nashville to be closer to Kyle while going to college. In 2011, Maci's relationship with Kyle becomes ambiguous. Fans speculate that the Teen Mom star has gotten back with her baby daddy, Ryan Edwards. These rumors are put to rest for good when Maci and Kyle get back together later that year. This is the last time that Maci and Ryan pursue a romantic dynamic. In 2012, Maci and Kyle break up. Maci explains that she caught Kyle talking to other girls, but the ex-boyfriend disputes cheating on the Teen Mom. After splitting with Kyle, Maci starts dating Kyle Regal, a motocross racer from Texas.
Kyle Regal is destined to be Maci's forever match. In October 2012, Maci returns to her original "Kyle" boyfriend, Kyle King, but the third time is not the charm for Maci and Kyle King. In 2013, Maci was in a serious relationship with Taylor McKinney. In January 2015, Maci and Taylor announce they are pregnant with their first child. Jayde McKinney was born on May 29, 2015. On January 19, 2016, Taylor proposed to Maci while filming Teen Mom in Venice Beach, California. Only a handful of weeks after their engagement (Javi Marroquin also got engaged) on reality television, the couple announces that they are going to be parents for the second time. On May 31, 2016, Maci gives birth to her third child, Maverick McKinney. A few months after Maverick's birth, Maci and Taylor get married, on October 8 in Greenville, Florida.
While Maci's relationship with Taylor was evolving, Ryan gets involved with Mackenzie Standifer. In 2017, Ryan and Mackenzie wed. After Maci and Ryan married other people, their relationship as exes got hairy. In March 2018, Maci and Taylor filed an order of protection against Ryan. This came as a result of a voicemail that Ryan left Maci, in which he was allegedly very threatening. As Ryan and Maci have made controversial parenting decisions (she put Bentley on a strict diet), the order of protection was dismissed. It was replaced with a mutual restraining order in May 2018. A few months later, Mackenzie gave birth to Ryan's second son, Jagger, on October 9. Mackenzie gave birth to Ryan and Mackenzie's first daughter, Stella Edwards, on the first day of 2020.
Maci and Ryan's relationship came to a volatile end at the recent Teen Mom reunion in March 2021. When Ryan's parents argued with Maci and Taylor over not seeing Bentley enough, the MTV reunion spiraled out of control. As a result, Ryan Edwards and his entire family were fired from Teen Mom. Mackenzie thinks their firing was decided by Maci. Currently, Ryan and Maci's relationship is the rockiest it has ever been. From teen parents to dramatic reunion guests, this Teen Mom couple is not meant to be.
