The crew at Xbox is running another ID@Xbox Summer Game Demo Fest, allowing users to try out 40 different indie games from June 15 to June 21 at no extra cost. As many may recall, the platform-holder hosted a similar event during Summer Game Fest 2020. The demo fest, which lasted for about a week at the end of July, gave players access to more than 70 indie game trials.
This year's indie festivities come on the heels of an incredible showing from Microsoft during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. The E3 2021 press conference unveiled several projects from Xbox's first-party studios and third-party partners. Most notably, Bethesda Game Studios unleashed a longer tease of Starfield, complete with a November 2022 due date. Halo fans were treated to another look at the eagerly-anticipated Halo Infinite, which remains on track for a 2021 launch. The talented developers from Arkane Austin helped round out the Xbox presser with an announcement of their new multiplayer adventure, Redfall.
A slew of ID@Xbox indie titles are taking center stage now, thanks to the Summer Game Demo Fest. According to a post from Xbox Wire, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S users can download and play a total of 40 indie game demos from today, June 15, through June 21. Demos start rolling out today, the write-up notes, with more scheduled to go live throughout the next several days. The experiences in this year's Summer Game Demo Fest include the likes of turn-based RPG BattleCakes, first-person puzzle adventure Faraday Protocol, story-driven action-adventure title The Tale of Bistun, Lawn Mowing Simulator, turn-based RPG Echo Generation, and melee combat game Paint the Town Red.
Like last year's indie-centric event, the latest Summer Game Demo Fest provides players of all kinds with a litany of options. From role-playing games and shooters to puzzle titles and action-adventure experiences, Xbox users have plenty try out over the course of the next handful of days.
And, interestingly, this doesn't mark the end of Xbox's E3 celebrations. Come Thursday, June 17, Microsoft will host a second digital event, Xbox Games Showcase: Extended. The special broadcast will air at 10:00 am PT, featuring discussions with developers from Xbox-owned studios such as Double Fine, Ninja Theory, Obsidian Entertainment, and Rare.
