FF7R INTERmission Ending: Driver Character Cameo Explained

Fans expected the INTERmission DLC for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade to have cameos and shout-outs to other parts of the franchise, but an unexpected one appears right at the end of the game. The INTERmission DLC stars Yuffie from FF7as she infiltrates the city of Midgar, but it also features cameos from the main Final Fantasy 7 Remake cast.

[WARNING: Major Spoilers for FF7 Remake Intergrade below]

The Yuffie DLC for Final Fantasy 7 Remake is spread across two chapters which run alongside the main storyline. Yuffie arrives in Midgar shortly after Cloud is separated from the party during the Air Buster battle. She later witnesses the plate being dropped on Sector 7, which is where her story concludes. INTERmission is followed by several post-credits sequences, one of which shows Yuffie traveling on a chocobo outside of Midgar, which is likely setting up her eventual meeting with Cloud.

There are several post-credits scenes in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade: INTERmission, one of which follows the original party after they have left Midgar. The group decides to hitch a ride down the road, and Barret is able to convince a truck driver to stop and pick them up. This driver is only seen briefly, but fans of the original FF7 might recognize their design.

The driver who picks up Cloud and his friends is Choco Bill from FF7. He's sporting the same forked beard as the original game, as well as a red bandana. His clothing is also extremely similar to his original 3D model. Choco Bill drops Avalanche off at a crossroads, with Kalm on one end, and the Chocobo Farm on the other. He's last seen driving to the farm in his truck, leaving Cloud and his friends to continue their journey to Kalm on foot.

The ending of INTERmission suggests that the start of the unnamed FF7 Remake sequel will follow similar events to the original FF7. It was revealed that Barret wanted the group to travel to Kalm and they arrive at its border at the end of INTERmission, suggesting that the next game will kick off with the Nibelheim Flashback. Once the party is done in Kalm, they will likely need to travel to the Chocobo Farm and reunite with Bill, as they will need his help to catch a wild chocobo and use it to outrun the Midgar Zolom so that they can continue their pursuit of Sephiroth.
