Like most games in the survival genre, the best way to stay alive in Subnautica: Below Zero is obtain as many useful resources as physically possible. Resources in the game can be taken and combined at the player's home base to create better tools and items to help explore the world around them. The better tools that the player has then the more effectively they will be able to explore and then in turn get their hands on even better items.
One of the most important things for players to do during the course of Subnautica: Below Zero is work on building their very own base. This will allow them to have a safe place to return to in-between exploration excursions, as well as a place to store all of their extra gear and resources. In order to build a base though the player will need to create a Habitat Builder. This guide shows players how to craft a Habitat Builder.
With the Habitat Builder in hand, the player will be able to take Titanium and other resources to turn them into pieces of a base for them to live in. The player is able to craft foundations in order to create a level floor for their base, room compartments that can go in many different directions, and even special items that will allow the player to complete special actions. In order to create the Habitat Builder, the player will need to acquire several different items first. The player will need:
- Wiring Kit - This piece of hardware can be crafted at the fabricator using two pieces of Silver. The player will find Silver in cave systems usually by breaking open rocks, but also from resource deposits and ore veins throughout the world.
- Computer Chip - The computer chip is a more advanced item that is crafted using two Table Coral Samples, one piece of Gold, and one Copper Wire. Table Coral Samples are found pretty much everywhere in the world and can be broken off walls using a knife. Gold will be found in the same places that the player finds Silver, and Copper Wire will be crafted using Copper found in those areas as well.
- Battery - One of the most important items that the player can create in Subnautica: Below Zero because it powers most of the tools. The player can craft it using one piece of Copper as well as two pieces of Ribbon Plant. The player will find the Ribbon Plant most commonly in the caves systems around the Shallow Twisty Bridges area.
Subnautica: Below Zero can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
