A new clip from Amazon Prime Video's The Tomorrow War sees Chris Pratt and his group on the run and overwhelmed by the future aliens. The sci-fi thriller is set in the present as travelers from 30 years in the future ask humanity for help in the war against an invading alien species. Dan Forester teams up with a scientist, his estranged father, and various others to save the world for his daughter to try and bring the war to an end.
Pratt leads an all-star cast including Yvonne Strahovski, J.K. Simmons, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, Keith Powers, and Mary Lynn Rajskub. The film, initially titled Ghost Draft, is being helmed by The LEGO Batman Movie's Chris McKay on a script from Zach Dean. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the film saw several release delays until studio Paramount Pictures ultimately sold it to Amazon for its forthcoming July streaming release.
With just a few days to go until the film arrives on the streaming platform, Amazon Prime Video (Via SYFY) has unveiled a new clip from The Tomorrow War. The video sees Pratt and his group on the run from a group of aliens swarming on them and threatening to overwhelm them. Check out the new clip below:
Though the new clip may not offer some insight into the various time-travel questions viewers may have for the story, it does give a good glimpse at some of the pulse-pounding action to be expected from the film. While McKay has been attached to bring the superhero Nightwing to the big screen for the DC Extended Universe, Tomorrow Wars does mark his first venture into live-action filmmaking, and the clip does point towards a solid level of competence on his behalf. From its wide-angle shots of a destroyed metropolis to the unique design of the aliens themselves, the new footage is certainly showing more promise for McKay's first directorial outing.
Additionally, the new clip features a bit of an artistic flair to the look with its semi-blurry appearance reminiscent of Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead, though whether one wants to view that as a creative positive or a visual nuisance is based on one's taste. There should be plenty to draw audiences in for the sci-fi action film with a cast full of both action heft and comedic talent. Only time will tell how the film lands when The Tomorrow War debuts on Amazon Prime on July 2.
