Warning: contains spoilers for Justice League: Last Ride #2!
Wonder Woman is one of the Justice League's greatest warriors when it comes to close range combat, decapitating one of Darkseid's closest allies in the mission that ultimately breaks the team apart. Desperately holding the line for her fellow League members during Darkseid's devastating attack on Earth, Diana and the Amazons don't hold anything back, taking lethal measures to save the day.
During Justice League: Last Ride #2 by Chip Zdarsky and Miguel Mendonça, the remaining Justice League members are transporting a captive Lobo across the galaxy to hide him from his myriad enemies as he awaits a trial by the galactic government. Batman suggested the group hide Lobo on Apokolips, the last place anyone would look for him, as the Main Man has built up a repertoire of enemies who are itching for a chance to kill the space bounty hunter now that he's in chains. During their journey, readers see a flashback to the Justice League's last mission together, and how the apocalyptic battle that ended Martian Manhunter's life went down.
In the final battle against Darkseid's forces, Wonder Woman holds the line for her fellow Leaguers as they divide and conquer to face the numerous threats Darkseid has thrown at both Earth and Oa, the home of the Green Lantern Corps. While Martian Manhunter and Batman attempt to disarm Darkseid's Boom-Nukes, Diana battles the soldiers of Apokolips with her Amazon sisters, facing off against several parademons and Darkseid's elite guard, the Furies. As Wonder Woman and the venerable Amazons of Themyscira battle it out with the best Apokolips has to offer, Granny Goodness - who trains and enforces loyalty in Darkseid's forces - attacks Diana directly, and Wonder Woman cuts her down.
Granny Goodness is a sadistic fighter, being one of Apokolips' deadliest warriors and one of Darkseid's closest confidants. Her power is considerable, and the influence she wields in Apokolips is only second to her dark master's. She is responsible for training and equipping Darkseid's bodyguards and assassins, and is able to defeat most of them single-handed when they step out of line. Suffice to say, while she may look far older than Diana, Granny Goodness is a force to be reckoned with. After landing a surprise attack on Wonder Woman, Granny Goodness begins a classic villain monologue about how it is already too late for the Earth, and how in another life Wonder Woman would have made a fearsome Fury. As she continues, Wonder Woman wastes no time and shows off exactly why the Amazons have earned their distinguished reputation as she beheads Granny Goodness in a single strike! The death of Granny Goodness is a major long-term loss for Darkseid and Apokolips, regardless of how this cataclysmic final battle resolves itself.
Wonder Woman and the Amazons have distinguished themselves in Justice League: Last Ride #2 as they desperately fight back the hordes of Apokolips, securing a vital strategic victory by killing off Granny Goodness. While the Justice League is torn apart by the consequences of their last bout with Darkseid and his minions, the victories heroes like Wonder Woman claim make it a decisive win - perhaps even contributing to the heroes' belief that the universe will be able to survive without them working as a team in future.
