The French Dispatch star Bill Murray joins Tilda Swinton in Wes Anderson’s next film. Entertainment legend Murray has become strongly associated with Anderson ever since starring in the quirky director’s second feature film Rushmore way back in 1998. Since then, Murray has teamed up with Anderson for the films The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs and most recently The French Dispatch.
Variety reports that Murray isn’t ready to end that association with Anderson quite yet and will star in the director’s next effort, an untitled project to be filmed in Spain. Swinton will also be in the movie’s cast after herself starring in four other Anderson films including The French Dispatch, which just showed at the Cannes Film Festival. Anderson’s new Spain-set film was originally to be shot in Rome before plans changed. Sets have reportedly already gone up in Chinchón, a small town near Madrid.
Besides the handful of Anderson films they’ve co-starred in, Murray and Swinton have also teamed up before in the Jim Jarmusch movies Broken Flowers, The Limits of Control and The Dead Don’t Die. Their forthcoming effort with Anderson is still largely being kept a secret. The French Dispatch meanwhile is generating plenty of buzz at Cannes, thanks in large part to the presence of Timothee Chalamet in the cast and at the festival (Chalamet indeed seems to be enjoying his time hanging out with Murry and company at Cannes, if the images released from the event are any indication). A recent first-look video from The French Dispatch featured Chalamet getting naked in a hilarious bathroom scene with co-star Frances McDormand.
