Does Space Jam: A New Legacy Have A Post-Credits Scene?

Space Jam: A New Legacy releases in theaters and on HBO Max on June 16, but does it have a post-credits scene–and if so, how many? The standalone sequel comes 25 years after NBA superstar Michael Jordan helmed the original Space Jam, featuring a mix of live-action and animation in the form of the beloved Looney Tunes gang. The cult classic from Warner Bros. spawned several ideas for a sequel, but it wasn't until the torch was passed to four-time NBA champion LeBron James.

Development for a Space Jam sequel centered on James first came about in 2014, but the ball didn't truly get rolling until 2019. Though Terence Nance originally signed on to direct, Malcolm D. Lee took over shortly after production commenced in the summer of 2019. Rather than follow the first movie by trapping James into Tune World before leading the Tune Squad against the evil Monstars, the NBA star travels to a virtual universe called Warner 3000 Server-Verse to rescue his son, Dom (Cedric Joe). The young boy is being held captive by the villainous Al-G Rhythm (Don Cheadle), so James teams up with notable characters like Bugs Bunny (Jeff Bergman), Lola Bunny (Zendaya), Daffy Duck (Eric Bauza), and other Looney Tunes to face off in a basketball game against Rhythm's Goon Squad to free his son.

Unfortunately, Space Jam: A New Legacy doesn't have any post-credits scenes. This may come as a surprise since there's an expectation for Warner Bros. to continue the franchise after a James-led revival. Instead, A New Legacy goes with a more traditional credits sequence, featuring the enormous team who tirelessly put together the major project that blended live-action, hand-drawn animation, and advanced 3D CGI special effects. That said, those sticking around in the hopes of extra content will find exciting features that possibly hint at the future of Space Jam in addition to Bugs Bunny's signature line: "That's all Folks!"

Without giving too much away regarding the Space Jam sequel's ending, the movie concludes with a surprise reunion, which leaves the door open for more adventures involving Looney Tunes characters. Though there's no word if James is interested in leading another movie, it might not matter considering the other areas Warner Bros. can now explore. While the credits roll, social media-like images are shown that feature popular Looney Tunes hanging out with notable celebrities. More importantly, some animated figures are seen interacting with noteworthy athletes, hinting that the Space Jam franchise may dive into other sports.

On the other hand, the images used in the credits could have just been a fun way to incorporate vibrant visuals into the sequence. Either way, Warner Bros. probably wouldn't have greenlit the sequel without the hopes of continuing the franchise beyond Space Jam: A New Legacy. Though there wasn't an actual post-credits scene confirming a third Space Jam movie, there is still hope for fans. Despite the need to be patient, it's likely the studio won't wait another 25 years before jumping back into the franchise.
