Star Wars: Darth Vader's Biggest Weakness Just Saved A Traitor's Life

Warning! Spoilers for Star Wars: Darth Vader #14 below.

Darth Vader just discovered a traitor among Emperor Palpatine's inner circle but is unable to kill them after his biggest weakness is exposed: Luke Skywalker. In the newest 'War of the Bounty Hunters' tie-in, Vader confronts Sly Moore, one of Palpatine's advisors who tried to usurp her superiors, but her quick-thinking and exploiting the deadly Sith's greatest quest keeps her alive.

'The War of the Bounty Hunters' arc is currently underway across all original Star Wars titles at Marvel Comics. So far, the event has shown the different perspectives of both heroes and villains trying to locate (and purchase in an auction) Han Solo's frozen, carbonite body. The Crimson Dawn is responsible for stealing Han's body from Boba Fett, but more conflict has arisen in different forces' quest to recover the body. After recommitting to the dark side, Darth Vader is after Solo's body, believing it will lead him to Luke Skywalker. However, after Sly Moore's - one of Palpatine's most trusted advisors - recently revealed betrayal, the villain realizes acquiring the asset won't be easy.

In Star Wars: Darth Vader #14 by Greg Pak, Raffaele Ienco, Jason Keith, and Joe Caramagna, Moore finds herself demoted to sub-administrator after her failed attempt to kill Vader. Frustrated about her new position, Moore learns about Luke Skywalker's connection to Han Solo and how his body is up for auction. The Umbaran meets with her fellow traitors, but after IG-88 shows himself and reveals he's terminating their agreement to kill Vader, the Sith Lord shows up and slices the droid in half. After chasing down and killing most of the secret group, Moore saves her own life by mentioning Skywalker's name.

Moore reveals that Han Solo's frozen body is the key, and Skywalker will follow him wherever he goes. She tells Vader that Solo is up for sale and she would be delighted to bring them together. Vader agrees, believing it will bring him closer to Luke and give him the chance to kill his son. The issue ends with Vader wreaking havoc at the auction.

Moore's quick thinking ultimately saved her life. After Vader discovered she was trying to kill him, he could have ended her life without a second thought. Instead, however, Moore put together that information on Skywalker was more important than her own conflict with him - and used the intel to exploit his biggest weakness: his blindspot to Luke Skywalker. In the end, Moore's deflection ensured she wouldn't fall at the hands of Darth Vader. Star Wars: Darth Vader #14 is in comic book stores now.
