Suicide Squad Poster Shows Captain Boomerang Driving Bus of Supervillains

A new poster for The Suicide Squad sees Captain Boomerang driving a bus filled with members of Task Force X. James Gunn's highly anticipated sequel-reboot releases in theaters and on HBO Max August 6. Gunn has made it clear that his film won't address to David Ayer's 2016 film Suicide Squad, but it will bring some characters over. Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney will reprise their roles as Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, Rick Flag, and Captain Boomerang, respectively. New to the cast are John Cena, Idris Elba, Sylvester Stallone, and a slew of other stars that will round out the titular team.

The Suicide Squad will follow Task Force X to Corto Maltese where they will face off against Starro the Conqueror, among various other threats. This time around, the take on the iconic comic book group will be rated-R and, according to those involved, it's a hard R. There will be gore aplenty, mainly due to the fact that plenty of characters in The Suicide Squad will die throughout the course of the film. While some seem guaranteed to survive, including Cena's Peacemaker, Elba's Bloodsport, and Robbie's Harley Quinn, nobody seems truly safe from Gunn's twisted vision.

Ahead of the release of The Suicide Squad next week, Gunn has released a new poster on Twitter showing off Task Force X. The group can be seen in a battered bus driven by Captain Boomerang. Bloodsport is exiting the bus as it rains while all of the squad members, sans Rick Flag, look out the window. Interestingly, on the right hand top corner of the bus, one of Starro's spores can be seen attached to it. Check out the full poster below:

The bus shown in the poster doesn't even show all of the characters in The Suicide Squad, of which there are plenty. It's clear the ones above are the main crux of the film, but they shouldn't be deemed safe just yet. Warner Bros. gave Gunn permission to kill anyone and the director has even teased that Harley Quinn could die in the film. With anyone up for grabs, it's truly a free-for-all in terms of the unpredictability of the film.

With early reviews in for The Suicide Squad, it certainly sounds like this free rein has done well for Warner Bros. and Gunn. As of this writing, the film currently sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, the highest for any DCEU film ever. Critics are praising the humor, action, and characters of the film and as The Suicide Squad gears up for release, this will make audiences all the more excited for the film.
