New content updates are always a cause for excitement in Genshin Impact. Thankfully, the free-to-play RPG from miHoYo gets regular updates every six weeks. Ahead of these, the studio typically has a closed beta test where a select group of fans can glimpse the upcoming Version content early. Because of this, however, leaks are prominent online - as is the case with the latest Version 2.1 leaks.
Prior to the release of the 2.0 Inazuma update, miHoYo announced the Genshin Impact 2.1 beta test through its official Discord server. As with previous betas, selected players were asked to sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) before participating. However, this has rarely kept leaks from showing up in the past - and it appears to have not helped with new alleged leaks appearing online for Version 2.1.
New playable characters are arguably the biggest announcements for any update in Genshin Impact. Since the beta, the skills and Talents for upcoming playable characters like Sara, Kokomi, and Raiden Shogun (Baal) have all surfaced. While miHoYo had already shown off images and some details regarding these characters (presumably to preemptively combat leakers), the more in-depth aspects of these characters (like Ascension materials) were relatively unknown. Further leaks point to Baal and Sara being Banners at the start of Version 2.1, with Kokomi being added into Genshin Impact about halfway through the update.
In addition to new playable characters, some of the latest leaks for 2.1 point toward fishing being added to Genshin Impact in the next update. This makes a logical next step for the game after the Serenitea Pot added housing, and then gardening/farming mechanics were added in July. The aspects of the RPG that aren't directly tied to combat have slowly been moving into a life simulator-like game for a while now, and with Inazuma being an island nation, the addition of fishing mechanics just makes sense.
The other big news circulating from the alleged leaks involve the Fatui Harbingers. These antagonists have been fairly quiet in Inazuma so far, but they're expected to make a major comeback in the next update. This is perhaps best illustrated by the fact that La Signora is a new weekly boss in Genshin Impact 2.1, according to leakers. She's expected to have attacks and moves based on both Cryo and Pyro elements, similar to the Childe fights previously seen in the game.
New areas of Inazuma are also rumored to be opening up in Version 2.1, although it's still unclear if this is wishful thinking or substantial leaks. Undoubtedly, the other areas in Inazuma will open up eventually, although the 2.1 update may be just a little too early to do that, since the nation only opened up during Version 2.0. As usual, miHoYo will likely host a Genshin Impact 2.1 livestream soon, offering official confirmation of what fans can expect in the next update.
