Whitney Williams is angry at herself for doubting her former teammate Derek Xiao while inside the Big Brother house. Whitney found herself sitting on the block last week after former Head of Household Christian Birkenberger nominated her alongside Hannah Chaddha. Whitney was ultimately evicted with an unanimous 10-0 vote.
Prior to her eviction, Whitney felt betrayed by Derek. After the nominations were finalized following the Veto Ceremony, Whitney overheard a conversation between Derek and Hannah. During the conversation, Derek implied to Hannah that she would still be in the house following the live eviction, which also implied that Whitney would be sent home. Whitney later admitted how angry she felt toward Derek. This instantly made her question her entire game. Had she stayed in the house, Derek would have been her target.
Although Whitney initially felt very angry towards Derek, she is now altering her opinions on her former teammate. Upon arriving home, Whitney began to catch up on the season so far, to get a better perspective on what was really going down inside the house. Early Thursday, Whitney took to Twitter to admit that she regrets doubting Derek while inside the house. A fan shared a clip of an older conversation between Derek, Tiffany Mitchell, Kyland Young and Claire Rehfuss. This conversation was from prior to both Whitney's eviction as well as Brent Champange's eviction. When Tiffany began to question Whitney's loyalty due to her lying to Brent, Derek quickly came to Whitney's defense. He called out all three houseguests for doing the same exact thing inside the house.
Whitney shared the older tweet, while adding her new perspective on Derek. She said, "I hate myself for the times I doubted him." While Whitney now understands that Derek had to ultimately side with the Royal Flush Alliance as it was what was best for his own personal game, she is regretting constantly doubting him throughout the game. Whitney explained, "I know he had to side with The Royal Flush, but he really did fight for me to stay." She later added that watching this clip on Twitter was the first time she saw this conversation unfold. Her second tweet read, "This is the first I’m hearing about it."
A fan responded to Whitney's tweet explaining that Derek did his best to always defend not only her but also Hannah. Derek's tactics for keeping Hannah safe were more obvious, even for the houseguests remaining in the game, since the two supposedly have a crush on each other. As for Derek working to keep Whitney safe, this came as a bit more of a surprise to both Big Brother viewers and Whitney. Although they were on the same team for the first four weeks of the game, it was perceived that Whitney never fully trusted him despite the efforts he was quietly putting in to keep her safe.
