Don’t Breathe 2 is now out in cinemas all over the world, and here’s who plays who in this new story, as well as those characters from the first movie that are coming back. The horror genre has been going through a great run in recent years thanks to adaptations of popular literary works, remakes and reboots, and original stories as well. Falling into the latter category is Don’t Breathe, directed by Fede Álvarez and written by him and Rodo Sayagues. Don’t Breathe was released in 2016 and received positive reviews, and as it was also a box office success, it was granted a sequel.
Don’t Breathe followed three young thieves (played by Jen Levy, Dylan Minnette, and Daniel Zovatto) who broke into the house of a blind man named Norman Nordstrom (Stephen Lang). Little did they know, “The Blind Man” is an Army veteran who uses his senses to hunt down intruders, and his house soon became a deadly trap for the three of them, forcing them to think every single move more than once. Now, as the Blind Man survived the first movie, he’s back in the sequel, simply titled Don’t Breathe 2, which is looking to change the image of this character from villain to a sort of antihero.
Don’t Breathe 2, then, follows the Blind Man who is now looking after an orphan, but his past sins soon catch up with him and he has to protect his adoptive daughter from a new group of intruders. This new story has a key actor from the first movie coming back and will also introduce a new cast – and here’s who plays who in Don’t Breathe 2.
Although Rocky thought she had gotten rid of The Blind Man at the end of Don’t Breathe, he actually survived and moved on with his life. Now the adoptive father of an 11-year-old girl, he continues living in relative solitude with her and their dog Shadow, but his past crimes will soon catch up with him in Don't Breathe 2. Stephen Lang played Freddy Lounds in Manhunter, Charles Winstead in Public Enemies, Colonel Miles Quaritch in Avatar, and detective Lloyd Martin in The Girl on the Train.
Madelyn Grace plays Phoenix, Norman’s adoptive daughter who he has been training to fight and overcome any type of trouble she might encounter. However, Phoenix’s life will take a turn when the truth about Norman comes to light, as well as that of her biological family. Don’t Breathe 2 is Madelyn Grace’s first movie role, and she has previously played minor roles in TV shows like Portlandia, The Orville, and Grey’s Anatomy.
Stephanie Arcilla plays Hernandez, a former Army Ranger and Norman’s only connection to society. One seemingly normal night where she takes Phoenix with her to run some errands will end in tragedy, triggering a series of events that will change Norman, Phoenix, and her life forever. Stephanie Arcilla is best known for playing Mami in the TV series Here and Now and Bernadette Romero in Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.
