Heather Seidel is one of the most controversial stars in Married At First Sight history. The relationship experts often refer to the popular dating show as an experiment to convey that marrying strangers on Married At First Sight does not always result in a happy ending. While on the reality show, Heather demonstrated just how poorly the experiment can go, but here's everything she has been up to since her tragic and short-lived marriage.
Heather made her television debut on the Married At First Sight season 4 premiere on July 26, 2016. Heather's season was centered around newlyweds based in the Miami area. At the time, Heather was a 32-year-old flight attendant. Heather was matched with Derek Schwartz, a 35-year-old account executive. Although Heather and Derek clicked on their wedding day, they swiftly plummeted into one of the worst marriages ever recorded on Married At First Sight.
During the couple's honeymoon, Heather and Derek's marriage started to veer off track. One major conflict between the pair was Derek's smoking habit. Heather couldn't stand being around smokers and Derek smoked regularly, an oversight that prompted fans to doubt Married At First Sight's relationship experts. Heather's marriage only continued to crumble rapidly as Derek criticized the flight attendant for nit-picking and even told her to leave. In a shocking turn of events that had never transpired on the reality dating series before, Heather and Derek gave up on their marriage after only 10 days as husband and wife.
After Heather's time on Married At First Sight, the television personality opted to live a more private, low-profile life. Although she is private, Heather's Instagram has garnered an impressive 20,200 follower count. It also appears Heather is frequently active on her private Instagram, as she has made over 990 posts. One of the most momentous posts Heather shared on her private social media page announced the birth of her son. In September 2020, Heather revealed she had given birth to her baby boy, Leo James. Much like her disastrous Married At First Sight marriage, Heather's pregnancy came with some difficulties. In another Instagram post, Heather shared she had to be induced into labor at 39 weeks pregnant. Heather planned for a vaginal birth, but she explained that a C-section was the safer bet for her and her baby.
In keeping with her theme of privacy, Heather chose not to disclose the name of her child's father or their relationship status. Heather did, however, reveal that Leo's father was present when Heather gave birth. In 2020, Heather gave her followers another life update, but this time it regarded her career. Heather shared that as a result of COVID-19, she had been furloughed from her long-standing job as a flight attendant. Unlike her abrupt breakup on Married At First Sight, Heather was able to make her career as a flight attendant last for several years. Fortunately, the inclusion of "flight attendant" in her Instagram bio indicates that Heather has not given up on her career path yet.
Heather is remembered for her journey on Married At First Sight for all of the wrong reasons. Although Heather had an infamously calamitous marriage in 2016, she has started a whole new life since season 4. Without the judgment of Derek or critical Married At First Sight fans, Heather has her sights set on a new horizon.
