Pokémon GO: How To Prepare For Skwovet Spotlight Hour

Skwovet is having its own dedicated Spotlight Hour in Pokémon GO. In a surprising turn of events, Galar, the most recent region introduced in the Pokemon series, will be added to Pokémon GO this August. This area was originally introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield on the Nintendo Switch. The introduction of Galarian Pokémon is the final piece of the Ultra Unlock event happening this month. Another surprise is that the final two Spotlight Hours of the month are dedicated to two newcomers, Skwovet and Wooloo. This guide will show players how they can prepare for the first of these two events.

Skwovet Spotlight Hour will take place on August 24 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. During this time period, players will be able to encounter many Skwovet to grind for XP, Stardust, or candy. This also comes along with an additional bonus, providing players with double the number of candy for transferring Pokémon during this time. Initially, these Spotlight Hours were hidden by Niantic to not spoil the surprise of Galar's first true introduction. While Galarian forms were added to Pokémon GO around the time Pokemon Sword and Shield were released, this is the first time creatures native to that region like Zamazenta and Zacian will be added. Here's everything players can do to prepare for Skwovet Spotlight Hour.

As mentioned, players will have one hour on August 24 to capture as many Skwovet in Pokémon GO as possible. Here are a few things players can do to prepare for this.

  • Tag Transferable Pokemon: Players should go through their Pokémon Storage and tag the Pokémon they wish to transfer. They should wait until the event and transfer them during it for double the candy.
  • Earn Enough Candy: Since Skwovet is a brand-new Pokémon, players should make sure to stock up on as much candy as possible to evolve it. It will likely only need 50 Candy to evolve unless Niantic introduces a new evolutionary method for Galar Pokémon.
  • Lucky Egg and Star Piece: While XP and Stardust aren't boosted for this event, players should still use Lucky Eggs and Star Pieces if they plan to capture a bunch of Pokémon. The more Pokémon captured, the more Stardust and XP the player can collect.
  • No Shiny: Since Skwovet is so new, its Shiny form is not yet available in the game.

Wooloo will be the one to replace Skwovet with the next Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour. It will be interesting to see what other Galar Pokémon will be added to the game. Furthermore, the Alola region is unlikely to be added until a future date.
