Ranged weapons are the best heavy damage dealers in Naraka: Bladepoint, offering strength to complement the melee weapons. Although they can be difficult to use, ranged weapons prove valuable when trying to land the first attack, assisting teammates from afar, or when using hit-and-run tactics. Additionally, none of the ranged weapons in Naraka: Bladepoint require ammunition. Instead, Weaponry Chests are used to repair weapons - essentially replenishing the ammunition.
Naraka: Bladepoint offers a total of eight ranged weapons to choose from: the Bow, Cannon, Swarm, Pistol, Repeating Crossbow, Flamebringer, and Bloodrippers. Each ranged weapon has its own strengths and weaknesses, but unfortunately, some of the strengths are too situational and not worth a second look. When choosing a ranged weapon in Naraka: Bladepoint, here are some of the best options available.
Naturally, a Battle Royale like Naraka: Bladepoint is going to have bottom- and top-tier weapons. Just because a weapon doesn't make this list doesn't mean it's not worth having if no other ranged weapon is equipped. It's worth noting that players should always equip ranged weapons in addition to their melee options.
The best ranged weapons in Naraka: Bladepoint, in order, are the Bow, Pistol, Swarm, and Cannon. Qualifying the best weapons in a new Battle Royale is always a challenge. For this list, the best weapons are evaluated by their individual performance, mobility, and a few of the individual traits that really separate them from the other four. Additionally, any damage number mentioned is based on both the user and opponent not having any Souljade equipped.
The Cannon is at the bottom of the best ranged weapons list, mainly for its lack of mobility. It slows down the player considerably, but a quick dodge into a run will put the weapon away. Mobility is everything in Naraka: Bladepoint, so anything that hinders that skill isn't going to make its way to the top. However, the Cannon is a great weapon to use in Trios thanks to its area-of-effect damage. If a teammate is up against multiple opponents, the Cannon is a great weapon to help them out. It'll hurt every opponent in its blast radius, dealing anywhere from 300-480 hit points of damage upon direct impact (when at least 13 meters away from the opponent, from Common to Legendary).
The best way to use the Cannon is to always fire where the opponent is going to be, and there are some Naraka: Bladepoint characters who are great at setting this up. The cannonball itself travels slowly, so attempting to fire directly at an opponent may result in a miss. Trying to shoot ahead of their position will more likely result in a direct hit; if not, it will at least cause the opponent to veer off from their intended course. It's a great weapon to push opponents back, or into other teammates. While the mobility dilemma is a major downside, pairing the Cannon with a quick melee weapon like the Katana or Dagger is the perfect way to balance its weakness.
The Swarm is a rocket launcher that fires five mini rockets upon trigger tap. When the trigger is held down, the Swarm can fire up to 40 rockets. Like the Cannon, the Swarm slows down the player's mobility quite a bit and has to have the minimum range requirement in order for the rockets to deal their maximum damage. Each of the mini rockets also has its own small area-of-effect blast radius, which is extremely helpful when trying to target a moving opponent.
While The Swarm is charging up, enemies can be tracked and targeted as they try to move around. It takes some talent to guide the Naraka: Bladepoint mini rockets. Even if The Swarm is fully charged, the attack can be dodged out of if an opponent gets too close. That dodge also allows for a weapon swap to happen seamlessly. The combination of attacks would be: fire the charged Swarm rockets, dodge, swap to a melee weapon, and resume combat without any interruption.
The Pistol is the second-best ranged weapon in Naraka: Bladepoint, primarily because it's a shotgun pistol. Like The Swarm, the Pistol has a charge-up option that deals more damage the more it's charged. A fully charged Legendary Pistol can deal up to 800 hit points of damage, and it deals more damage up close as more pellets hit their target. Having the Pistol equipped does not slow down the player's base speed. Thanks to the Pistol's mobility, damage, and pellet spread pattern, it's perfect for landing quick, damaging attacks. After firing, players can dash away to swap to a melee weapon. Additionally, the Pistol is another great weapon to use in Trios against opponents who are overwhelming a teammate.
Players will usually need to take a few seconds during combat to repair a weapon in Naraka: Bladepoint, but the Pistol only takes a second to be ready. The only real downside to using the Pistol is that it requires the user to be closer to the enemy in order to deal maximum damage. This often puts Pistol users in range of a melee weapon, but dodging a melee attack and firing off a quick shot is a great way to start a counter-offensive. The Pistol's quick mobility and accuracy at close range also make it easier to chase down opponents who are attempting to run and heal.
The Bow is the best ranged weapon in Naraka: Bladepoint. The Bow also has a charged up firing mode, but it can be fired instantly and rapidly for a relatively high amount of damage. A fully charged Rare Bow headshot is going to deal enough damage to take down an opponent with no armor, and even a body shot will deal up to 750 damage. It only gets stronger as the rarity increases, with Legendary Bows able to deal 1,500 damage on a fully charged headshot.
The Bow and the Musket are similar precision-damaging weapons, but the Musket doesn't allow the user to aim down sights. The Bow is a low-risk, high-reward weapon because it allows the user to better pinpoint where they want to shoot. It keeps more in tune with the fast and fluid style of Naraka: Bladepoint. The charge mechanic can be held indefinitely, and it can be canceled by dodging out of the attack. Regardless of the distance, the Bow is highly accurate and requires little lead. The Bow only has eight arrows to use before it has to be repaired, but even hitting a target with one or two arrows immediately gives an advantage to the Bow-user.
Naraka: Bladepoint is available on Steam.
