(Welcome to ...And More, our no-frills, zero B.S. guide to when and where you can watch upcoming movies and shows, and everything else you could possibly stand to know.)
In November, Diana: The Musical will bring the story of Princess Diana to Broadway. However, before the production debuts on stage, it will be presented on Netflix as a live recording with the show's original cast. Considering this fall probably won't be the best time to return to Broadway theaters, it'll be nice to enjoy a full blown stage musical from the comfort of your home. Find out when you can see Diana: The Musical on Netflix and everything we know about the production below.
Diana: The Musical Release Date And Where You Can Watch It
Pending Broadway's anticipated return with government approval, and following health and safety guidelines, previews for Diana: The Musical on stage in New York City are scheduled to resume at the Longacre Theatre on November 2, 2021. The official opening night will be November 17, 2021. Though productions will require proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test for admission, there's no shame in not feeling safe to head back to Broaday. Thankfully, Netflix has you covered.
Netflix will be premiering the live-recorded performance of "Diana: The Musical" a whole month earlier, starting on October 1, 2021. The performance, recorded in 2020, will feature the original Broadway cast, getting you as close to seeing the actual stage production as you can get from your own couch. Honestly, this is something we wish Broadway would do with all their shows, even if it was over a year after the show premiered on Broadway.
What Is Diana: The Musical?
"Diana: The Musical" is a stage production that tells the story of young Diana Spencer as she enters the royal family and creates a legacy that would last well beyond her tragically short life. Inspired by the life of Princess Diana, the musical unfolds across two acts with 21 original songs that find her facing the world and carving her own path as a bright light for millions around the world. Needless to say, it's a much different approach to the life of this famous figure than the upcoming film "Spencer" starring Kristen Stewart.
