An Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan has created a rug in the shape of the video game series' popular character Isabelle. First appearing in 2012's Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the cheerful Shih Tzu became a sort of mascot for Nintendo's simulation video game series. As such, it's no surprise that Animal Crossing's Isabelle has been cosplayed by fans and is often the subject of fan art.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons recently received a major 2.0 update that added new features like remote island exploration, cooking, and permanent vendor shops. Launched earlier this month, this update was available at no cost for all players. Nintendo also released the Happy Home Paradise DLC, an expansion that enabled players more power in designing their vacation homes. This expansion was meant to be the last major content addition. However, now there is a rumor that Nintendo's long-running series will receive yet another update just in time for the holiday season. According to a recent leak, Animal Crossing: New Horizons may get a holiday-themed update. The rumored update will not only bring back last year's Holiday Festivities, but also add new items for players to enjoy.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan RugMuncher902 posted photos showcasing their fan art of Isabelle on the Animal Crossing subreddit. Though the carpet is just Isabelle's bell-shaped head, the details of the rug are spot on. Isabelle has her hair pulled up into her signature ponytail--held together by her easily recognizable red ribbon and bell. The hardworking assistant is also depicted with her signature smile. Reddit user RugMuncher902 mentions in the comments that to create their fan art, they used a tufting gun. The carpet is so well done that it could qualify as official merchandise, or at the very least, be made available in-game to players.
Thankfully, Isabelle fans can see more of the character in the recent Animal Crossing: New Horizon updates. In the new Happy Home Paradise DLC, Isabelle acts as more than just the head of the Civic Consultation Counter and an employee of Animal Crossing's Tom Nook. She also acts as an employee of the Town Hall and gives the player Public Facility projects. In this role, she follows the player to the facility and provides a list of required items to the player. Thanks to the 2.0 update, players can now also see her outside of her office. Sometimes she can be seen visiting The Roost coffee shop.
Though there is no official word on another new update coming to the game, the fact that players can finally see Isabelle taking a well-earned break is still appreciated. And now with the possibility of a holiday-themed update, fans are most likely hoping for Isabelle in a new holiday-themed outfit. If nothing else happens officially in the game, at least fans like RugMuncher902.
