EXCLUSIVE: Garena has announced via Screen Rant that Free Fire will have a second crossover event with Money Heist, which will feature new missions and unlockables. Free Fire is a popular mobile battle royale game with millions of active players, which saw a massive influx of new players during the 2020 lockdown.
The popularity of Free Fire has led to several properties having crossover events with the game. These have included the anime/manga series Attack on Titan and One Punch Man, the manwha series Ragnarok, and Burger King. In 2020, Free Fire had a crossover event with the Netflix series Money Heist, which was originally called La Casa De Papel. The Plan Bermuda event in Free Fire added new unlockables, most notably the signature red jumpsuits and masks that appear in the show.
The final episodes of Season 5 of Money Heist are set to launch on Netflix on December 3, and the series will be part of a second crossover event with Free Fire at the same time. Garena has announced that the new crossover event is called Final Episode: Raid and Run and it will run from December 3-14. This is due to the positive reception to the original crossover in 2020. Final Episode: Raid and Run will involve the Professor from Money Heist traveling to Bermuda with a new mission for players. It's the player's job to save a Free Fire Squad that was caught during a previous heist and to complete their mission, by locating gold. This will involve working with the Professor and completing in-game missions as part of the event. Those who compete in Final Episode: Raid and Run can earn Free Fire x Money Heist collection items, which are themed items that can be worn in battle. The visuals of Free Fire will also be reworked during Final Episode: Raid and Run, with a new interface and in-game reskin.
The battle royal genre has become synonymous with crossovers in recent years, with character skins being a popular commodity among players. The red jumpsuits and masks from Money Heist are a natural fit for a battle royale game (unlike the gun-toting Narutos in Fortnite), and they will soon become a common sight on the battlefield in Free Fire.
The Final Episode: Raid and Run event in Free Fire will run from December 3-14, 2021.
