Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Remake: The 10 Best Customizable Outfits

Unlike the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl allow a little bit of character customization. Instead of only having the default models and clothes for Dawn and Lucas, the player has a choice between several models from the start, and then they can also change their clothes within the game.

While this customization is much more limited compared to other modern Pokémon games such as Pokémon Sword and Shield, these few outfits are still an upgrade from the originals. With these best options, the player can put a bit of themself into their character.

When the player first travels to Hearthome City, they are unable to attempt the city's Gym because the gym leader, Fantina, is participating in Super Contest Shows at the Contest Hall in the city. Instead of focusing on strength, Super Contests focus on a Pokémon's appearance and performing capabilities, which is demonstrated by a dance performance. The protagonist enters the Contest Hall as well and runs into their mother, Johanna, who is revealed to have been a legendary Super Contest competitor in the past.

Since they will need to attempt this competition, Johanna gives players the Super Contest Outfit. This extremely fancy outfit was made especially for these shows, and Dawn's outfit looks like a magical girl's uniform while Lucas' outfit gives a similar vibe to Bert's outfit in Mary Poppins during the "Jolly Holiday" musical number. Sadly, although both of these outfits are dapper and fun, gamers can only wear it during these contests.

When the player makes it to one of the best cities in Pokémon BDSP, Veilstone City, they can visit the Metronome Style Shop, which has most of the different outfits in the game. Since the villainous team of these games, Team Galactic, has a science-fiction and space theme and aesthetic, it is not surprising that one of the new styles added to these remakes would also be inspired by futuristic science-fiction content. This outfit, which is called "Cyber Style," costs 45,000 Pokédollars.

With this particular style, Lucas' version is great while Dawn's version is pretty mediocre. Lucas has an interestingly layered outfit with neon lime-green splashes of color that contrast well against the otherwise monochromatic fabric. Although Dawn has neon orange lines against a monochrome background, her outfit is only a simple dress with shoes, which is not as fun or complex.

Another outfit that can be bought at the Metronome Style Shop is the "Casual Style." Even though this outfit costs 86,000 Pokédollars, it has the same problem as Cyber Style because Lucas and Dawn's versions are not equal in quality.

For this style, Dawn has the better end of the deal. Her silver dress with the gold jacket creates a bold combination that is both fun and stylish while also being easy to wear. On the other hand, Lucas' outfit is all over the place with baggy pants, a slightly ripped shirt, a ginormous backpack, and several contrasting patterns and colors that don't match well

Even within the Pokémon universe, people want to wear outfits that show off the things they really like, which includes their favorite Pokémon. If players really like the dual-type Ghost Poison Pokémon Gengar, then they are in luck because they can buy a Gengar themed outfit at the Metronome Style Shop for 98,000 Pokédollars.

But, even if Gengar is not the player's favorite, the "Gengar Jacket Style" is still worth a purchase for the aesthetic alone. With this style, both Dawn and Lucas have a bright purple jacket with a black shirt, which creates a bold but not too busy design. Lucas' jeans and Dawn's light blue skirt compliment the cool vibes of the entire outfit. The only negative of this style is Lucas' weird Fanny Pack.

If players prefer the Normal-type Pokémon Eevee or are just not a fan of the color purple, then they can use 98,000 Pokédollars to purchase the "Eevee Jacket Style" at the Metronome Style Shop. These outfits are extremely similar to the Gengar version except with some small differences that make the outfit less bold and more chill.

Instead of the purple jackets, Lucas and Dawn get a black and white jacket with the nice detail of gold stars along the arm. Lucas keeps some purple in his outfit by having a purplish blue shirt while Dawn has an azure blue shirt. Sadly, Lucas still has the Fanny Pack.

Despite being the cheapest outfit at the Metronome Style Shop, the "Pikachu Hoodie Style" is honestly one of the best outfits in the game. Even if the player doesn't really care about the Electric-type Pokémon Pikachu, this cosy outfit manages to be nicely simple and stylish at the same time.

By paying only 8,500 Pokédollars, the player can get this comfortable and fun outfit. The main piece of clothing is of course the Pikachu hoodie, which is a black hoodie with an orange silhouette of Pikachu's head and orange lightning bolt designs. Despite the simplicity, the outfit has a nice charm that makes the price absolutely worth it.

For 34,000 Pokédollars at the Metronome Style Shop, the player can get the "Spring Style" outfit. This style invokes the natural beauty of the Spring season by combining pastel colors with dull browns, which mimics the return of flowers out of the muddy ground.

Out of the two versions, Dawn's outfit is definitely the better style. The pastel pink sweater and blue beret with a small bow mesh well with the brown plaid skirt and shoes, which creates an incredibly cute outfit. Lucas' version is mostly good with the dark blue hat, bright green shirt, caramel jacket, and black shoes with a blue tongue, but the cargo pants and black tights are a strange combination.

After Pokémon Diamond and Pearl released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS, an enhanced version called Pokémon Platinum was also released for the DS in 2008. Besides the many new features and storyline aspects added in the game, the main characters also got new winter clothes because of the colder weather in the region.

If the player pre-ordered Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl or buys the games before Feb. 21, 2022, then they will get a mystery gift with the "Platinum Style" outfits, which are the winter clothes from Pokémon Platinum. These stylish outfits with a reddish-pinkish motif look incredible on both Lucas and Dawn.

After defeating Cynthia, the player finally unlocks the "Summer Style" outfits. While it may seem unnecessarily long to wait for a season-inspired outfit, this style is absolutely worth it.

For Dawn, the player gets a bright outfit that is perfect for a relaxing day at the beach. The straw hat, slightly worn blue jean shorts, and cute white blouse creates an upbeat, cheery feeling. Meanwhile, Lucas has a much darker outfit that is more reminiscent of a day at the pool. The light blue jacket with red stripped ends and the greenish shirt underneath work perfectly together.

At the Metronome Style Shop, the most expensive style is the "Leather Jacket Style," which costs 120,000 Pokédollars. But, this amount of money is definitely worth it for possibly the coolest-looking outfits in the game.

These outfits are worth buying for the edgy jackets alone, but the splashes of bright purple really help bring the whole style to life. With Dawn's pretty hairstyle and Lucas' matching hat, this style is an absolute winner on all fronts. Although Lucas has the best pants with zippers that, while unnecessary, do look great, Dawn has the best shoes since Lucas' shoes are a bit too blocky.
