Surviving the Aftermath: How to Prepare for a Pandemic

There are a variety of catastrophes to overcome in Surviving the Aftermath including deadly Pandemics. If players don't prepare the colony with treatment options, then many or all of the colonists will perish. Pandemics come in several waves and infect colonists with a fatal disease that can quickly spread to others without any medicine to treat it. Preparing for catastrophes can be difficult, especially in the beginning, but colonies that remain unprepared won't survive.

Catastrophes are the environmental events that attack the colony periodically. Along with Pandemics, players need to fight off Magnetic Storms, Nuclear Fallouts, and other harsh or hazardous conditions. Keeping the colonists alive can be a challenge, especially for players that set the game to a higher difficulty. Catastrophes, including Pandemics, are the biggest obstacle in the city-builder, Surviving the Aftermath.

Building up a large stock of medical supplies, specifically antibiotics, can take some time, so players should send their Scavenger Specialists to collect resources as early as possible. Antibiotics can keep diseases from reaching other colonists, but without them, players should expect infections to spread rapidly. The other way to prepare for a Pandemic is to have reliable medical facilities with as many workers as possible in each one. Players will need to spend Science Points on upgrades to have the best facilities possible before a Pandemic occurs.

In order to collect medical supplies in Surviving the Aftermath, players will need to send Specialists to the World Map. Scavenger Specialists will be the most efficient at collecting resources, so players should use them first if any are available. For the Pandemic catastrophe, players will need a decent stockpile of antibiotics, which are indicated by the blue pill symbol. Antibiotics are different from iodine pills and medical kits, so players should make sure they're collecting the right resource for the Pandemic.

Surviving the Aftermath includes a variety of building upgrades and advancements, including better medical facilities and the ability to add more workers to each one. Using Science Points in the Safety research branch can quickly give players enhanced medical facilities without spending too many points. Unlocking the first upgrade and the ability to add nurses will greatly increase the colony's chances of surviving a Pandemic catastrophe in Surviving the Aftermath.

Gathering resources and building medical facilities are both essential to keeping colonists alive through a Pandemic. Similar to Surviving Mars, keeping a colony alive in Surviving the Aftermath means enduring a variety of environmental disasters while attempting to make advancements. The Pandemic is one of the more deadly catastrophes in the game, so players should start preparing for its inevitable arrival as early as possible.
