15 Best Spider-Man: Homecoming Quotes | Screen Rant

After making his highly praised MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland's Spider-Man got his very own solo film in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film explored Peter Parker as a high school student as he attempted to prove himself to Tony Stark and stop a new villain named Vulture.

The movie proved that Holland was perfect for the role and embraced the fun of the young hero's adventures. Along with all the superhero action, the movie is a genuinely fun and energetic ride filled with so many great jokes. Here are the most memorable quotes from Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Updated on December 4th, 2021 by Colin McCormick: With the hugely anticipated release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans will undoubtedly be revisiting some of the past Spider-Man movies. While Spider-Man: Homecoming was not Peter Parker's introduction into the MCU, it served as the perfect first solo adventure that cemented Tom Holland's charming portrayal of the character. The funny, thrilling, and inspiring adventure of this version of Spider-Man is captured in the movie's many memorable quotes and shows why the MCU's version of Spider-Man has been such a hit with fans.

One of the main themes of other Spider-Man stories was Peter Parker hiding his superhero secret from everyone. That made for some great stories and struggles for the character, but Spider-Man: Homecoming showed how much fun it would be if Peter had a buddy to share the secret with.

Ned finds out Peter is Spider-Man very early in the movie and understandably has many questions for his friend. It is an interesting new way of approaching the superhero identity trope of these movies.

Vulture is one of Spider-Man's oldest villains but as he is brought to the big screen here, it is a clever reimagining of the character. Adrian Toomes is a blue-collar worker who is upset when the government takes over his job. And in many ways, he has a point.

But seeing a world in which aliens invade Earth and gods fly down from the skies, Toomes is a great example of how such an event can change people for the worse. It is at this moment that he puts aside his honest work and becomes a criminal.

Among the many great actors who pop up in smaller roles in the movie, Donald Glover has a hilarious part as Aaron Davis, a criminal who Spider-Man encounters. After sticking Aaron to his car with webbing, Spider-Man tries and fails to interrogate him.

However, Aaron has a softer side and agrees to give Spider-Man the information. After thanking him, Spider-Man tells Aaron the webbing will dissolve in a couple of hours. The scene is made even funnier as Aaron complains that he has ice cream in his car.

As fun as it will be to see Michael Keaton return as Batman in The Flash, seeing him play the villain here was a blast. And his big moment to shine can with the terrific twist where he turns out to be the father of Peter's girlfriend.

As Toomes drives Peter and Liz to the school dance, their conversation begins to reveal too much. Keaton does a terrific job of switching from the typical dad to the unsettling villain as he realizes it is Spider-Man sitting in his backseat.

With an upgraded suit, Peter is given his own A.I. to communicate with, much like Tony Stark's JARVIS or FRIDAY. In Peter's case, he name's his suit's system Karen and she helps him learn more about all the bells and whistles on his new outfit.

When Peter is attempting to confront some bad guys, Karen suggests he try his new enhanced combat mode which turns out to be "instant kill." While Peter is quick to shut that down, there is a great callback in Avengers: Endgame when he finally gets to use it.

The movie has so much fun imagining what this world of superheroes would look like from a high school level. One of the cleverest and most hilarious details is Captain America doing lame high school PSAs.

Chris Evans really embraces the goofiness of the character in these videos. After Peter's gym teacher shows the class one of them, he points out that after the events of Civil War and Cap being on the run, he might not be the best role model anymore.

From the moment Tony Stark recruited Peter, their mentoring relationship has felt like a great addition to the MCU. This relationship continues in this film as Tony appears in a supporting role.

After fighting together against Cap in Berlin, Peter is eager for the next mission and the next step to becoming an Avenger. Tony leaves Peter with the confusing advice that he should just learn to operate in a little grey area between what Tony would do and what he wouldn't do.

Peter uses a school trip to Washington as a cover for pursuing the Vulture and his crew who are planning a heist in the area. However, things go wrong on the trip and Peter has to save his entire class from being killed.

With everyone returning home from the trip, their teacher chaperone Mr. Harrington shares his relief that everyone got home safe. But then he adds that this kind of thing might have happened to him before. The line is made funnier by the fact that it is not elaborated on at all.

The movie is filled with so many great character actors popping up in small and fun roles throughout the film. One of the biggest surprises is Donald Glover, who plays Aaron Davis, a thief who has some fun comic book background.

In one of Glover's brief scenes, he is seen trying to buy weapons from Vulture's crews but is annoyed that they are trying to upsell him with high-tech equipment. After being shown an Ultron-inspired weapon, David remarks that he just needs something simple, "I'm not trying to shoot him back in time."

This movie gives fans one of the best MCU friendships between Peter and Ned. After accidentally discovering that Peter is Spider-Man, Ned jumps at the chance to help him out with his crime-fighting.

During the homecoming dance, Ned takes on the role of Peter's "guy in the chair", using the school computer to help Peter stop the Vulture. But when Ned is caught using the computer by one of the teachers, he panics and comes up with this rather awkward excuse.

Mary Jane Watson is one of the most significant characters in Spider-Man's history in the comics, but this movie gives a new approach to her. Michelle aka MJ, played by Zendaya, is a cynical and socially unique classmate of Peter's with a hilariously dark outlook on the world.

Though she keeps to herself and insists she doesn't have friends, she might be more interested in Peter than she lets on. After confirming that Peter has quite several school clubs, MJ tries to brush it off by saying she is just an observant person.

Michael Keaton makes for a great villain in this film as Adrian Toomes aka Vulture. Along with being an interesting menace, his character provides a stellar twist in the third act. As Peter arrives to pick up Liz, his date to the homecoming dance, Toomes opens the door and reveals himself to be Liz's dad.

The twist is great and it makes for a hilariously tense scene as Peter recognizes Toomes but Toomes doesn't know he's Spider-Man. After seeing him as the intimidating villain, Keaton pulls off the corny dad role as he jokingly offers Peter a drink.

Even though he fought with the Avengers, Peter still has a lot of learning to do about being a superhero. With his high-tech new suit from Stark, he starts to think he's ready for the big leagues and tries to take down Vulture himself only to cause further mayhem.

After destroying a ferry, Tony confronts Peter and tells him he's taking back the suit. Peter begs him not to and says he's nothing without the suit. Tony, having learned this lesson for himself, tells him " If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it." As it turns out, that's just the lesson Peter needed to hear.

By the end of the film, Peter seems to have learned a lot of responsibility and grown as a hero. However, he still doesn't realize that he can't be wearing his costume around in the house.

After getting his high-tech suit back, Peter puts it on and wears it proudly in his room. However, he fails to notice Aunt May standing behind him. As she stares in disbelief, she yells out "What the f---" as the movie cuts to credits.

Peter goes through an interesting arc as a hero throughout this film. In the beginning, he is still coming off the high of fighting alongside the biggest heroes in the world. He is anxious to move to that next level and become an Avenger.

However, at the end of the film, when Tony offers Peter a chance to join the team, he turns him down. He realizes that while the Avengers are out saving the world, someone needs to be looking out for the little guys and be the friendly neighborhood superhero.
