Supernatural season 15 is well underway, and with the series on a midseason break, fans will have to wait until March to find out how the story (finally) ends. So far, Supernatural season 15 has been a wonderful and heartfelt look back at the best of the series so far, with cameos and guest-star appearances from characters who have become fan-favorites, but it's also a fight against a final big bad: God himself.
God, or Chuck (Rob Benedict), has been part of the show for quite some time, but it's only been recently that Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) have realized quite what a petty and capricious God he is, and how much he's been manipulating the brothers. Now, it's time for the Winchesters, Castiel (Misha Collins), and Jack (Alexander Calvert) to take him down.
Of course, the questions is, how will that happen, and when will fans get to see it? Supernatural season 15 consists of only 20 episodes, and The CW has given the show a short hiatus. Here's when Supernatural season 15 returns and what to expect from it when it does.
Supernatural season 15 returns on March 16 at 8pm, with "Galaxy Brain". There are 20 episodes in the final season, meaning that the show still has nine to go, and will air the series finale on May 18. The second half of the final season will also be moving days on The CW, from Thursdays to Mondays. This is far from the first time that Supernatural has moved over the course of its 15-season run, and at various times it has aired every day of the week from Monday - Friday. While Monday isn't usually considered a prime slot for TV shows, this is not something that the network will be concerned about for a show like Supernatural; the fanbase is extremely dedicated, and there is no doubt that fans will tune in for the final episodes any day of the week.
There's a lot to pack in to the final nine episodes of the series, but if the first half of season 15 is anything to go by, Supernatural will manage it with style. The heart of the story, of course, is whether Sam and Dean will be able to take down God, how they'll do so, and where they will end up. From the end of "The Gamblers", it's clear that Jack and Billie (Death) are planning on being a big part of this plan, and that Jack is attempting to strengthen himself for the fight while God is off-world. Because of this, it's likely that fans can expect more of Jack hunting down creatures and ways to gain extra power, with Castiel's help. Sam and Dean, now with their 'heroes luck' restored, will be trying to understand what the Goddess of Luck meant when she warned them to make God play their game, rather than trying to beat him at his.
In addition, Supernatural will be wrapping up other storylines and final cameos. Fans are expecting the return of Mark Shephard, although it is unclear if he will be back as Crowley or as a new character in some way. Eileen's romance with Sam will presumably also be either ended for good or given a happy conclusion, and of course, the biggest question is if Sam, Dean, and Cas will all survive the final throwdown. Right now, although hints of Jack/Billie's plan have been revealed, almost anything could happen in the end.
