Adding bullies into movies is done for several reasons. Firstly, it might be necessary to the story, secondly, to create an instant villain for the film, and also because they are relatable. Everyone has experienced bullying at some point in their lives, whether it be firsthand or through tales from others.
These types of characters often are showcased within movies set at school, but it doesn't have to be the case, as bullies can be found everywhere, unfortunately. Within this list, we will be taking a look at the 10 worst bullies, who pushed the limits and made audiences absolutely detest them.
10 Henry Bowers (IT)
Horror movies are well known for having bullies within them, mainly because they will end up being picked off by the true horror villain at a later stage in the film. Within IT, Henry Bowers fulfills that bully role, providing the movie with not just a monster, but a relatable human villain as well.
Bowers actually ends up teaming with Pennywise in the film after being corrupted, but it is prior to that where he really shows his personality. Bullying the other children, going as fat as to use a knife, Henry is incredibly vicious and aggressive and is a real piece of work throughout, which carries on into his adult life.
9 Seth Devlin (Donnie Darko)
Donnie Darko is an absolutely fantastic movie, and it also plays host to a despicable bully in the form of Seth Devlin. Right from the start, we see this character doing drugs at his locker, which sets the tone for exactly the type of character he is throughout the film.
Consistently bullying any chubby person within the class, he follows every stereotype of a school bully that you could possibly think of. At the end of the movie, he then becomes a true villain as he appears with a meat clever on Halloween, causing pure mayhem.
8 Buzz (Home Alone)
That's right, even in Christmas movies, there are bullies, there is simply no escape from them! Buzz isn't in Home Alone too much, but when he does pop up, he is a total jerk and treats the other members of his family horribly, especially Kevin.
He is far bigger in size than Kevin and has no issues throwing his weight around to dominate. But with Kevin being such a kind-hearted soul, it makes it even sadder. All he wants to do is impress him and hang out with him, but he continuously just takes his chances to bully Kevin throughout.
7 Regina George (Mean Girls)
With the title of the movie, it is pretty clear that at some stage there was going to be a bully within this movie and there are multiple. However, the worst of the bunch is Regina George, who has no problem in dishing out her feelings towards others.
She is one of the most judgemental characters in movie history and has no issues in making those feelings heard. Believing she is the coolest person in the world, Regina has no shortage of confidence. Unfortunately, she uses that to put others down, rather than build them up.
6 Draco Malfoy (The Harry Potter Series)
Draco Malfoy is a perfect school bully, proving that even within a magical setting such as Hogwarts, there can be vile people who are just out to upset others. While his character does improve towards the end of the series that doesn't mean he's not a constant bully for the majority of the time.
Consistently bragging because he comes from a pure-blooded family of great wealth, right from the start Draco believes he is better than everyone. He isn't afraid to tell people exactly how he feels, which is often something unpleasant, although when he's confronted he enjoys cowering away in typical a cowardly bully fashion.
5 Sharpay Evans (High School Musical Series)
The musical genre is another that also happens to feature bullies, especially in the High School Musical franchise. Being set at this period, the chances were always high that there would be a school bully and Sharpay Evans filled that role excellently.
Sharpay is bratty and believes she is better than everyone else in the school. Being wealthy and popular, Sharpay nailed many different popular stereotypes, which helped make the character so hated. Eventually, over the course of the trilogy, she did warm and grow, but it was clear throughout she always had a sense of being better than anyone else.
4 The Heathers (Heathers)
Long before Mean Girls burst onto the scene, there was Heathers. All these girls were named that, except one, and they were the classic clique of mean women. They have absolutely zero redeeming qualities as they seemingly flourish in bullying and tormenting.
These girls do get dealt with in the end, which gives viewers are satisfying moment, but that doesn't stop them from being some of the worst bullies that you will ever see in movies. There's no level they won't stoop too in order to bring sadness to others, seemingly gaining pleasure from it.
3 Mr. Vernon (The Breakfast Club)
Unlike the other examples within this list, Mr. Vernon isn't a student, a teenager, or a young child. He is, in fact, a teacher, which arguably makes him the worst of the bunch simply because his profession should be to bring an end to the bullying, not to encourage it.
Either way, he is a bully and a great example of how people can use their power to abuse others. Making the children he is supposed to be caring fall feel as worthless as possible at every available opportunity, he is the absolute worst.
2 Gaston (Beauty And The Beast)
Disney movies often highlight the absolute best and worst in people all within one movie and Beauty And The Beast certainly does that well. Belle sees good in everyone she meets, regardless of their appearance, she is bright and inquisitive, attempting to make the world a better place.
Gaston, on the other hand, is the worst. He constantly brags and belittles everyone for the things that they enjoy such as Belle's reading. He believes he can have whatever he wants, including women, and bullies the entire village, while also throwing his weight around against the Beast, which thankfully leads to his demise.
1 Biff (Back To The Future)
One of the most classic examples of a movie bully comes from the amazing Back To The Future with the character of Biff. He is someone who absolutely ticks every stereotype of an on-screen bully, which in a way, has helped him become such a memorable character.
There's a reason everyone is rooting for Marty within this movie, and it's not just because of how cool he is. No, it's mainly down to the fact that people hate Biff so much, with it being crystal clear that he is a total moron right from the start.
