If you haven’t had your fill yet of “what are you?” Instagram filters, then the latest one you can indulge in is Marvel themed. Over the past few weeks, these filters have gone viral on the platform, and in some cases, even celebrities from the famed franchises have been joining in the fun.
In early January, a new “Which Disney Are You?” filter burst onto the Instagram scene and immediately went viral with users able to see which Disney character they are. Technically, the filter didn't show which character they are most like as the effect is completely random, but that did not stop the filter from taking off. Shortly afterwards, another came through and this time it let users see which random Star Wars characters they were. The latest to join the party is the character crew from the world of Marvel.
This latest filter arrived just a few days ago, and like the others before it, it’s now gone viral. In fact, even Mark Ruffalo was spotted taking part. As you might have guessed, Ruffalo ended up with Hulk. The very same Avengers character Ruffalo plays in the Marvel universe. The same thing actually happened when Star Wars legend Mark Hamill took part in the Star Wars version after landing on none other than Luke Skywalker himself.
If you’re interested in giving this latest filter a try, then finding and using the filter is pretty much the same as the others. For those new to these filters, you will first need to make sure your Instagram app is up to date. If so, you’ll also need to head to the filter creator’s Instagram profile. So far, all three filters have come from different creators with the Marvel one coming courtesy of @nofar.shoshan. Once on the creator’s profile, look mid-way down the screen for the horizontal row of icons. One of these icons will be a smiley face icon and this is where all the filters and effects by the creator are stored. If you can’t see the smiley face icon you can try swiping right on the main image section (below the icon row) and this should then move from one icon section to the next - keep swiping to you land on the smiley face section.
Once in the right section, one of the videos will be titled “Which Marvel Are You?” Clicking on this will play a video demonstrating the filter and at the bottom of the screen will be a "Try It'' tab. Tapping this tab will launch the device’s camera allowing you to test the feature out for yourself. Pro tip - while testing out the feature if you hit the “Which Marvel Are You?" link at the bottom, the app will open up some additional settings including the option to “Save Effect.” This way you can quickly and easily access the Marvel filter again just by opening the camera within the Instagram app.
