The Mandalorian Season 2 has already completed principal photography. We still don’t have a full list of directors who helmed this season’s episodes, but we do know that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have directed.
Thanks to Black Series Rebels, we’ve now learned that directors James Mangold (Logan, Ford v Ferarri) and Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Alita: Battle Angel) visited the set of the series and even directed sequences for it. In addition, it’s reported that Bryce Dallas Howard returned to direct a full episode.
As for Mangold and Rodriguez’s involvement, we don’t know on what scale they are involved, but Rodriguez’s contribution is being called “great”. There are also other unnamed directors who dropped by the set to helm some sequences as well.
Mangold was supposed to write and direct a Boba Fett movie for Lucasfilm at one point, so the fact that he came in to help out with The Mandalorian seems like something he’d want to do! His Boba Fett project is dead in the water now, though. Maybe he came in to direct a sequence involving Boba Fett!? That’s just speculation on my part.
Mangold is now in talks to direct Indiana Jones 5, which is something that fans seem pretty happy about. What do you think about these two directors coming in to help out with The Mandalorian?
The Mandalorian Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in October 2020.
