Let's Talk About LEGO MASTERS Episode 3

A new episode of LEGO Masters has aired and it was full of more amazing builds. This time, the competitive teams had to take half an item and then use LEGO to attach a story to it. This really let some of the competitors shine and others seemed to really struggle. If you haven’t watched the episode yet, this is your warning that spoilers abound.

When we saw the preview last week for this episode, I thought the builders were going to have to complete the objects. Thankfully, I was wrong. They had to use the item to help create a story with LEGO. There were some hard items in there though. Some items like the bicycle had smaller connection points for a sculpture, it and others also had more of a connection that required more horizontal building, and others were half a laptop. This really allowed some of the teams to shine through and show their creativity. For instance, Boone and Mark got the laptop and, like me, were struggling with creating a story for it. They eventually did think of Argyle Lynel and it was really cool.

Also, did anyone else notice the difference in team Sam and Jessica this week? Even the judges talked about the change. For the last two weeks, they struggled to work together and were having quite a bit of drama. I hated them. However, this week they came and worked together as a team and ended up in the top two! Also, there wasn’t any drama and so I no longer hate them. If they can keep this newfound level of teamwork going, they’re going to be a force to be reckoned with.

I was sad to see Amie and Krystle in the bottom two this week. I do generally like them and their builds. Heck, I thought the dragon build was pretty cool, but I can also understand where the judges were coming from. I am glad they didn’t get eliminated and am excited to see them continue. Hopefully, this week put some fire under them and we’ll get something spectacular next week. Also, I couldn’t believe it when they said they’ve never built dragons before. That just really shocked me as they clearly love fantasy things. I would’ve just assumed that dragons and fairies were common builds for them.

In addition, I was a little surprised to see that Tyler and Amy didn’t make the top two. Their build was freaking crazy! I’m sure that they were in the top three though since the judges did seem to like their build when they went around evaluating them.

So, what did you guys think of the halftime event? I thought it was something fun and different. I do appreciate how LEGO Masters does like to do something different each week so it’s not just the same old same old. Clearly, this week’s pep talk did really help some of the competitors, but sadly, it didn’t seem to help them all.

Travis and Corey were in the bottom from the start and they were the ones eliminated this week. Their build had a lot of potential but they definitely were too ambitious with what they could do. I did enjoy watching them on the show and am sad to see them go, but it had to happen eventually.

Who do you think will make it to the finals? I’m unsure about a lot of people, but I do think Tyler and Amy have a very good chance of going all the way.
